Is college algebra (MAC 1105) hard?

I'm not the weakest in math, but I'm also not the strongest. What is college algebra like? Is it really hard?

What is hard to me may not be hard to you and vice versa. I found if if I stayed up on the homework I was okay. I am the biggest math-phobe and I pulled an A in the class. If you psych yourself out that it is going to be hard, then it will be. THINK POSITIVE

I agree with ebailey1218. It depends on the student, the teacher and the length of the course. I had a 15 week college algebra course with an amazing teacher. I HATE any sort of math, but because I came in dedicated and my professor had a great teaching style, I got a 101 total in the class. We really did not do much more than what I took in high school algebra 1 & 2

Okay that helps. I did really good in Algebra I. I did ok in Algebra 2, got a B all 3 quarters but passed with a C since I failed the final. I am determined to do well in college algebra also.

I found college algebra to be a quick summary of algebra 1 and 2 in high school. i never bought the book, barely spent time on that class and got a b+. i hate math but i'm good at it. i had taken calculus 1 before this class (the school wouldn't accept that as a competency!) so I'm not sure if you will find it hard or not. my class covered from basic x+3=9 stuff to the fractions with binomials and stuff.

It definitely depends. I never actually took college algebra because I tested out of it. For any math class, seek out tutoring and/or help from your professor if you don't understand something.

I took it last semester. I'd say the same. I'm not the best, but I'm not the worst. I ended the class with an A. And I have to say I worked my A** off for that A! At one point in the class I calculated the total hours for one week that I spent in class and working on homework and it came out to be the equivalent of a full time job. I'm not trying to scare you. You'll probably have an easier time than I did, seeing how I didn't take intermediate algebra too seriously. If you're dedicated you can do it! If you dot understand something, keep working at it until you do. Lastly, take advantage of your resources! If you have tutors available to you, USE THEM!!! They helped me tremendously! Good luck! You can do this!

I hate math. And it's way easier than statistics. :p
