I really need help.

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Hi, this is maybe the second time I have ever posted on here. I have finished my first semester in college with all A's. I worked my butt off for it. First things first...I am in a Pre BSN program at a two-year college. However, when I started school I said I wanted to get into the ADN program my school offers. My advisor put me on this degree plan which I am fine with. I just still plan on getting into the ADN program here, becoming an RN and then go back to school. I am currently not working but I need to get a career. I have no time as of right now to get a job and the only jobs I could get right now aren't great.

I can't apply to the nursing program at my school until prereqs and TEAS are done. Which will most likely not be in 2018. The prereqs I need so far are:

1. A&P 1 (taking it in Spring 2018)

2. A&P 2

3. Microbiology

4. General Chem. 1

My question is...what can I take together? My mom told me not to take my science classes together or I would regret it. I want to get good grades in those classes. But have any of you taken them together? What was that like?

Also, would any of these be good to take in summer?

Congratulations on a great start to your college education. You should be able to finish the 4 prereqs you listed in 2018.

You can take 2 science classes together, but any other classes must be easy. So take A&P I in Spring and take either Chem or Micro with it. If you don't have to take any other classes, great.

Yes, you can take one of these in the summer, but take only ONE summer class! Most summer terms are shorter and more intense. I took Chemistry in the summer and had to study like crazy. Of course, it also depends on what you find easy and hard.

I think it depends on you and how you study. I had to cram 4 classes into an accelerated program in order to complete them on time to apply to nursing school. It about killed me, but it was do-able. I took the following together: Chemistry, Chemistry Lab, Pathophysiology, Microbiology - 16 week courses crammed into 8 weeks (double the pace, obviously). I got 3 As and a B.

So - yes, totally do-able albeit not a pleasant experience!!

I took AP1 & micro together and AP2 & chemistry together and earned As in all. I also took a 3rd class along with AP2 & chem, but it was an easy class. I never struggled in any of the classes, but I also didn't work and had loads of time to study.

Thank you! I am just super stressed about how to get all of this done by February 2019. Along with taking the TEAS and getting all the immunizations. The head nurse of the ADN program sent me a file but it is so confusing! I really need a to do list. Which I might make myself. I am kinda regretting my degree plan because it is going to take longer. I don't work and my husband has been supportive and told me not to work while in school. It took him almost 8 years to get his Bachelors because he had to work and go to school. He told me to stay home with our daughter. So that is why he told me not to work while in school since it would take longer. I just feel bad that I am going to a 2 year college but it is going to take longer. But in the long run a BSN will get me further I think. Or so my advisor and friends who are nurses told me to go for the BSN.

My advisor told me that if I do the Pre BSN degree plan here, but also do the ADN program here when I graduate as an RN and transfer it would only take me 1 year to get my Bachelors.

I took micro and an accelerated A&P (I and II in 8 weeks), and I had no problems, and I had another class. I took chem along with 4 other classes but they werent sciences. Hope that helps.

I'll actually be doing something very similar this coming summer. A&P 1 with Microbiology (Summer 1) and A&P 2 with Nutrition (Summer 2) (WHAT!?!?!?) haha but this was the only way to go if I wanted to start full time in the fall. Unfortunately for me, the school I go to does not offer A&P in the spring and I was not about to go through another school for 1 course. I'm glad I found someone who went to the dark side as well.
