I Got An Email!!! I GOT INTO UIC!!!

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I got in from work at about 2:30 this morning (I'm a bartender) and although I was half asleep, I decided to check my email. I had an email from Andrea Schmoyer saying I got in and expect a packet in the mail!!! Yay!!! I thought I was nervous enough when I applied back in October, but now I'm really nervous. Just want to know what anyone has heard about the difficulty of the program and any and all other info about the program. Please feel free to share the good and the bad so I know what to expect.

:lol2: congrats!!! Good luck

Congratulations!!!

Prinsessa,

Don't be scared!! The ultimate goal is to become an RN. I will admit that I didn't think I would get into UIC because it's my 1st choice and I need a Bachelors to get to where I need to be yet my luck is so bad, but I was prepared (funny enough) to apply to cc's- where I was told I was a shoe-in. But I DIDN'T CARE. Not to say that one doesn't want a better route, but I was just prepared to have to take a diffent route. I did my essay the way that I did because that's what I felt. Just seemed so cold to answer #1...#2... But each has to do there own style. Just do you- than don't worry anymore. There's always more than one way to skin a cat, hence it's the end result that truly matters.

Congrats!! best of luck to you!!:balloons: :balloons:

I am applying to CCs. I would rather get a BSN right away instead of having to go back to school to do RN-BSN. A BSN will talk me the same amount of time anyway since I already have all my pre-reqs (besides Organic Chem and Micro). I plan on going to graduate school later. I know I will get in somewhere, but I will be diappointed if I don't get into UIC. I would apply to more BSN programs, but all of them have so many different pre-reqs. I know I am going to drive myself crazy worrying until I get in somewhere.

Prinsessa, did you think about applying to Rush too? I'm in the same boat as you. When I started looking at 2 year programs at cc's I noticed that I had all the prereqs for the BSN program that would take me the same 2 years to complete! So, I was just beginning my application for Rush as a second choice, but then I got the acceptance to UIC. The only extra class you need for Rush is Statistics (but you have until the start of class Fall 2007 to get that in).

Hello , My name is Karen and I'm from Birmingham , England. I am so pleased I just wanted to tell someopne that I got accepted by the university of Wolverhampton to study a diploma in adult nursing. Sooooooo!!! Chuffed!!!

Anyway I wanted to post info about interviews and how my interview was.I had to write a essay and do a numeracy test for which the interviewer said I did very well on the essay and 9 out of 10 for the numeracy. Then they asked me questions like why I wanted to be a nurse and why I wanted to do adult nursing and what I think was the role of a nurse. They asked what I was doing for the last 3 months and if I had any outside interests. I would like to know how any body elses interviews went and how they answered the questions. By the way I am a recent biochemist graduate.;)

Specializes in none as of yet.

:balloons: :balloons: Congrats!!:balloons: :balloons:

you'll do just fine!!

KUMAN,

1st of all CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!

I don't know what to tell you as I didn't have to go through an interview. But, I can offer this- ask yourself the questions first and the rest will follow. Be honest with yourself. Why do you want to be a nurse? Reach back to that 1st thought that made the decision for you. And WRITE IT DOWN. I keep journals, miscellaneous notes on every part of my life and it helps. Sometimes when I read different entries I wonder "what was I thinking" at the time. Yet, if I ever needed to write anything pertaining to any of those topics, I could. And it would sound truly genuine because it is.

I might apply to Rush, but it is really expensive. I already have Statistics, so I don't think I need any other classes. I will have to look at their pre-reqs again. Thanks for the suggestion!
