How old were you

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Sorry if this is bit of a weird question. I was just curious of how old everyone was when they started nursing school,or how old they will be. Once I start next spring I will be around 32. Is this old to be in nursing school,or are there other people around my age?

Too everyone who is applying to nursing school, good luck to all of you. Hope you all get accepted. :)

I was 37 when I started my journey with general education classes. I am 48 now with a bachelor's degree in Nursing !!

Specializes in psych.

I was 36 when I went to nursing school. Couldn't be happier that I did it. :) Good luck to you on your journey!

Thank you for this topic! I am 36 and finishing up my prereqs to apply to Nursing school (spring 2019 cohort). I am excited but sometimes I get scared that I will not be able to keep up! I mean my brain seems to be aging LOL. I know I'm smart but these young students are sharp and I have a hard time memorizing... uggg. I will not give up though. It is my dream to help people!

Specializes in Pediatrics.

I started when I was 19, started practicing with my ADN at 21. Just graduated with my BSN last week (I'm now 22). However, there were multiple people in their 30s and some in their 40s in my class. My best nursing school friend is 31 actually! Good luck in school :)

Specializes in ICU.

Started my Bachelor's when I was 18...started the nursing portion when 20...graduated @ 21

I just completed my first semester of nursing school and I am 48. I am not the oldest in the cohort by many years! I have plenty of years to put my degree to work for me so it is never too late! I already have. BS degree in another field.

Many of my classmates are in their 30's, a few are in their 40's! I was 22 when I started :) Now I'll be 25 this month and I graduate in August (God willing).

I'm 28 years old and I start LPN/LVN program in January. I will complete this in 2 years, start a family and then complete the LVN to BSN post diploma program. It's never to late! There is no age on education and it is lifelong.

I started nursing school this September at age 19 but birthday was in October so I guess you could say 20. I would have started earlier at like 17 but I did three years at college to be a doctor not a nurse. In the end I didn't have the grades (or finances) to be a doctor but I wanted to go into healthcare so nursing was the next step.

45 - couldn't give a monkey's either :roflmao:

I was 17 when I started the ASN program (was required to be 18 before starting clinicals) and 19 when I graduated.

You're never too old to go back to school. You've got this!
