I just turned 29 in March and will start working on our surgical floor within the next month or so after being licensed yet jobless (as an RN) since late January this year. The nervousness is definitely normal, it's a huge decision to become a nurse, not one to take lightly. Maybe see if you can job shadow a nurse or volunteer or work as a CNA to get a better idea of what real life is like for a nurse. And like I always say, if there's a will, there's a way! Best of luck to you!

Thanks everyone for such helpful and positive responses! I used to let the thought of someone else's bowls, needles, broken limbs and so much more stop me from moving forward in the nursing program but now at the age of 23 none of that even phases my mind. I feel really determined this time. I guess if it's not for me at least I have something under my belt but this is something I really want to pursue after cosmetology school, medical billing and coding and photography I somehow ALWAYS come back to nursing! I wish all of you still in school or just beginning the best of luck

I am a 28 year old mother of two. My kids are 2 and 4. I didn't always know I wanted to be a nurse. When I graduated high school I picked a university for two reasons. It was 2 hours away from home and my best friend at the time was going there (Great reasons I know). I ended up failing out after 3 semesters and racking up a ton of student loans. After coming back to school and finally finishing up my prereqs I start my ADN program in the fall! I am so excited, and so glad that I finally know what I want to be when I grow up!

Just a patient.... but reasons listed above is why I would never report a nurse over stupid little things. Many of you are single parents with children to support, reporting you would not only affect you but your kids as well. I never did mind having a student nurse while I was in the hospital. I was always very nice and easy going with them, and if they did make a mistake or "blooper" I wouldn't make them feel bad or stupid, I realize they are still learning and working for free on top of that, so they don't need more stress of a mean patient, and they might be my nurse someday so I better be nice.HAHA. Anyway thank you to all Nursing students who choose to care for others. Nurses have impacted my life in so many ways, I'm the 27 and still remember the first nurse I had when I was 7. Thanks again for what you do/going to be doing. You All Rock!!!

I have my ADN and I'm 20. People are usually pretty surprised at my age.
