How long did you guys spend on prerequisite classes ? (I start mine in August so if you have any advice , I'd love to hear it)

It depends if you will be applying for an associates or a bachelors program. Prerequisites for an associate program can be completed in a year while bachelor program prerequisites are completed in two. I'm applying to bachelor programs and I am on track to finish all the prerequisites within two years. Hope this helped.

I just read your previous thread where you said that you will be transferring from CC to WSU. WSU only has 8 prerequisites which will take you a year. Admission to their BSN program only takes a year because you will spend 3 years in their program.

WSU Prerequisites

Anatomy 2100 (Human Anatomy I)

Anatomy 2120 (Human Anatomy II)

English 1100 (Composition I)

Psychology 1010 (Introductory)

Psychology 3410 (Lifespan Developmental)

Chemistry 1020 (Organic)

Biology 1050, 1070, 1120 or 1150

Statistics 1600

Thank you. I'm thinking about spending a year on the prerequisites but I just want to make sure I'm not taking too many classes at once.

No that's a reasonable courseload, you should be fine. If I could give you one piece of advice I would tell you to use Quizlet. I'm a kinesthetic learner and it makes learning course material more interesting and retainble. Figure out what works for you. Good luck again!

Oh and actually use your books, for the classes like anatomy, biology, and chemistry. Underline important terms and do the checkpoint questions and the end of chapter quizzes. They gave me a deeper understanding of the material and led to higher grades!

I was scared of taking too many prereqs at once also. So I took bio 1 by itself for the first semester. That gave me a good idea of what I could handle (I could handle more than I thought). The next semester I took A&P 1, psych (online) and chem and had no problem with it. The next semester I took A&P 2, developmental psych (online), micro, and stat. No issues.

I had a BA in English when I went to a community college for nursing school. For prerequisites, I needed anatomy and physiology, biology, chemistry, microbiology, drug calculations, sociology, and human growth and development. I could have done it in 2 semesters, but I was also working full-time. I took 1-2 classes a term for a year. I took drug calculations during the day, chemistry on Saturday mornings, anatomy as a hybrid class (lexture online, labs and tests on campus), sociology online, and the rest at night.

Don't forget to consider the possibility of pre-reqs for the pre-reqs. Oh, and that class you need won't be offered this semester/quarter, it is only offered in fall/spring/winter quarter. (whichever quarter is the furthest away)
