How did you get medical insurance while at school?

I am looking around for a cheap medical insurance plan to cover me for the next 2 yrs while I am at school.

Anyone out there got any advice as far as where to get affordable coverage? I am a "non-traditional" student (older).

I've looked at some part-time jobs that offer med insurance but I really dont want to work if I dont have to.

Any tip, tricks, advice, secrets very much appreciated!!

I bought an Oxford Health Plan online for 89.00 a month for nursing school. Some students in my class got coverage through their state since the had to leave their job. I think I found mine on E Health Insurance.

You should check with your Welfare office, i am working now but when i start actual nursing school in the fall the welfare office in my county/state is going to help me with medical, books transportation (should i need it), money( again should i need it). They are really good to college students cause they know it is only temporary assistance. check into it.

I was not accepted but when i am I will be getting cobra through my job. It is really good but expensive - 500 a month. Since I had some medical problems last year and needed surgery I feel more safer if I have that insurance.

I think there are lots of us out there who dont have any. Maybe I will stay healthy until I get a job.

I dont have health insurance either. Actually most of my classmates who are non-trad. students don't have insurance :( Who can afford it?!

I had health insurance through my schools health services, check online there are companys that provide cheap insurance for students... I think I paid around $250 per semester for mine.

i know that they offer it through the school for a decent rate. i have mine through my job and that is the reason i am not going to quit. i have become increasingly paranoid about getting something in the hospital when taking care of MRSA, cdiff, hep c.

I've already checked into that option, but they dont have any. :scrying:
