Question: Does it look bad on a nursing school application if you have a hodgepodge of credits from different schools? I started out this semester at a school that does not have a nursing program. I'm taking some general classes which I would need anyway, but I'm planning on doing a semester or two of online classes, and then doing the final prereqs at another school closer to home that has a nursing program. So by the time I get around to applying for nursing school I'll have credits from at least 3 different schools. Will this look strange on an application?

I have credits from different colleges since we needed to relocate often in our past. It shouldn't matter as long as it is all transfer credit. The nursing school will evaluate your classes and determine if they transfer to their institiution. Just make sure you take classes that they will except as their prerequisites and you should be ok.

As long as they're all from reputable, accredited colleges/universities it's not a problem. I'm on my fourth school now, not by choice but because life happens. If you were dismissed from a school or had to withraw in the middle of a semester I might have an explanation ready, but otherwise I wouldn't worry about it. Good luck!

I wouldn't worry about it, I went to 4 schools as well, and left and returned to the one I graduated from twice. As long as they are accredited, it shouldn't matter.

I want to echo what the above posters said: I attended nursing school in the 1970's the first time, then quit, joined the Navy, took a few classes here, there and everywhere and got an AA in general studies too: I had credits from 7 different schools. By the time I actually completed nursing school (1994), one of my colleges had closed!

I attended 4 different community colleges, one university, and 2 vocational schools (they always ask for these transcripts because of student aid or something -- which I don't even get these days)....there's never been a question....
