Here is a little "get to know you" topic.

When you become an RN what field do you hope to work in?

For me, I am going to be IBCLC certified so I hope to work mainly as an LC. I may add doula in there as well. We'll see. Maybe a midwife one day? Who knows!

As one of now, Psych nurse, but I also work with new born as well.

I would have to say labor and delivery, but would further my education to become a nurse practioner.

I start nursing school in a couple of weeks, and I really don't know. I feel the need to experience every area of nursing (which I know is pretty impossible). I like the thought of ICU, labor & delivery, OR, renal/dialysis, and oncology, just to name a few on my imaginary list. I like the idea of being a nurse midwife. For some reason hospice seems interesting, but I don't know if I could hack it. I don't feel "called" to anything in particular. I'm not even sure where I don't want to work. Hopefully nursing school will help me decide. In the end, I'll take what I can get.

Ideally I would say labor and delivery is my ultimate goal. but who knows if I will feel the same way once i get thru nursing school

Right now I like the idea of becoming an OR nurse. Give 'em meds, give 'em an IV and whatever else the dr. ordered, push 'em in the OR then discharge them and NEXT! (I know there is a lot more to it than that but being a patient of the OR, that's all my nurse had to do for me). This position sounds great to me right now but like someone else said earlier after going through clinicals, I might change my mind too.

As of now I am interested in L&D or pediatric nursing. I wont start my nursing program until spring 2015 (completing my pre-req courses over the next year) so something else may peak my interest by the time I'm done. So who knows where the wind may blow.....good luck to you all!!

I like anything fast pace! I would love the ER and after years of experience maybe even Flight nurse!! In contrast hospice really interests me as well! I really would like to try everything!
