Hey everyone, just wanted to start a Fall 2018 page for Lone Star ADN/LVN future students!

Ale_tho, what was your critical thinking score?

Ale_tho, what was your critical thinking score?

900 even.

Your scores look good. Good luck!

Hello! My name is Nikki! I am going to be applying to the Montgomery campus! This was a last minute decision... i was focused on sams bsn program, but decided to apply to lone star first. I am ready to start!!! I still have 2 pre reqs for the bsn program or itd be my priority.

I have gotten all if my titers for hep b, mmr, and varicella, and i am immune to all. I have also been able to obtain my shot records from 20 years ago showing proof of the hep b vaccine. A huge weight off there! I am currently studying for the HESI... it will be my first time taking it, and the only for this app period. Does anybody have any good study tips?! I am already using the pocket prep app and the hesi review assesment book, and will be attending the a&p review session at the Montgomery campus later this month!

I apologize if this question has already been asked... im having a hard time viewing everything on this board, and if i dont ask now while im thinking about it... i will forget until some random time! MOMLIFE! Lol

I definitely understand what you are going through (mom of 2 boys under 4 here í ½í¸‚) I think you made a great decision! The cost, time, and commute is ideal and we can always complete our bsn afterwards! I, like you, only had one attempt to do the HESI, and let me tell you, it was a relief getting it done! What you are doing to study is pretty much what I did- I used the pocket prep every day and also studied out of the HESI review book, nothing more. My scores were:

92- A&P

90- math

92- vocabulary

90-reading

88-grammar

830-critical thinking

90.4 overall

My advice for each section:

A&P- was random- study everything you can especially the glands, eye and ear. Also, know the bones and muscles.

Math- fractions, percentages and ratios.

Vocabulary- random- I feel it's best to do this section using the process of elimination.

Grammar- surprisingly similar to vocabulary, so again, process of elimination was helpful.

Reading- they ask you multiple questions on each passage, a mixture of vocabulary grammar and other questions about the passage- this section was the most time consuming.

Critical thinking- was the most difficult because I am not familiar with triaging, but if I were, it would have been helpful here. This section mainly gave situations and different choices you could make in those situations.

I wish you the best of luck!! With all of the studying you've already done I'm sure you will do great!

Your scores are awesome!! Good luck!!!! :) Thanks so very much for the tips!! I havent scheduled to take it yet, but i know i need to asap. Im going to hold off taking it until after i attend the a&p hesi review at the Montgomery campus later this month! Hopefully that will help also!

I'm not currently at the Montgomery Campus and my local campus isn't offering that. Do you know a date for it?

jjfutureRN,

I used what a lot of people here use: Pocket Prep and the Elsevier Book. I also watched crash course A&P videos on youtube. Just study hard and when test time comes, take your time!!

February 16th! 9am-1pm, in G102

So im applying to the ADN program because i want my RN cert. Why are people also applying for LVN? Is there a bridge at Lone Star that is for the LVN's to get into the ADN program once they finish LVN and skip some of the classes that are required for the full ADN program?

Also if I don't get accepted for ADN and i were to accept LVN, how much longer does it take to go through that program and then go trough ADN to get to my goal than if I was able to just get accepted to adn in the first place?

Sorry, i have tons of questions about this topic.. lol

@alyssa_eee The ADN program is 4 semesters long while the LVN program is only 2 semester. If you get in LVN program, complete it, and get your lvn license, you will be able to apply for the transition program (the bridge LSC offers) The transition program is 2 semester as well. In total you will complete 4 semester no matter which route you go. But if do lvn remember you can do bridge programs for bsn as well. I will be applying to both once I finish a&p 2. Good luck.

Hey Everyone!

I am applying to the fall program this spring. I just submitted my complete application..

I have a total score of 7.32! I will be applying to multiple locations with Montgomery being my #1. I hope this is enough to get in as i do NOT want to wait longer and retake the HESI.

I have and A in AP I and AP II and in English. I got an 81 % on my HESI.

I look forward to meeting and chatting with some of you! Good luck everyone!
