Is The Entire NET Multiple Choice?!

I took the NET this morning. I read a few posts on here and became discouraged, due to the comments made about the reading section. I studied the ERI and have to say that the reading portion of the test was easier than in the study guide. Needless to say, I passed the NET with flying numbers. The best advice I can give, is to brush up on math, and get an idea of what will be on the test so there are no surprises. I was worried about the reading since everyone stated that most fail the first time around. It is all nerves! You have to stay calm and focus on the test. I was so nervous at first, I couldn't even type my birthday in the darn computer!! I was able to take a few deep breaths and regained focus.

It IS as easy as it looks, it's just a matter of how well you can deal with the stress.

I agree with Johnna. I personally think the hardest part of the exam was being able to control my nerves to think clearly.

I took the "Hesi" version of the Net and was surprised to find that not all of the math questions were multiple choice. Some you just typed in the answer, which is really nervewracking!

I am a very nervous test taker so I will need to calm myself big time. lol

The NET I am taking is all multiple choice or agree/disagree. Thank God.

I am also a nervous test taker!! I almost panicked this morning, but miraculously calmed myself down in midst of the exam. It is an easy exam; time is your worst enemy. Don't second guess yourself. Study the ERI!!

I have to take the NLN for another school on 3/3 and that one is much harder than the NET. Hopefully that will help prepare me.

I am going to try and stay calm for both. I will do my best and let the chips fall where they may. That is just easier said than done as they place so much emphasis on these tests. Yikes!! lol

Hey People,

CALM DOWN. I took both the HESI and NET for two different nursing schools i applied for. My HESI was much harder because it included A&P and Chemistry questions in it. I passed with a 90% and on the NET i got a 92% composite (overall) was just a breeze. I got several 100% in the different sections so don't sweat people. It's basically only reading comp and basic math. This is all sutff you all already know with your eyes closed if your applying to a BSN nursing program. The most important thing to remember is, just relax. Don't listen to all the nervous people out there telling tall tales. An instructor once told me that 75% percent of all the non-passing exam grades out there are due to nerves and not because the students don't know the material, the other 25% are due to saturday night parties! LOL! :smokin:

Like everyone keeps saying, calm down when taking the NET or HESI. They are all basically the same.

Nwlatino said that the HESI was much harder because it had Chem and A&P on it. The NET also has Chemistry, A&P, Biology and Cellular Biology on it, so that doesn't make it harder. The big difference is the various versions of the NET (or any of them for that matter.) The first version our school gave us way more difficult than the 2nd version, due to it being a "Science Reading." There are several versions out there, it just all depends on which your school uses. Also, according to Nwlatino, all the talk about the NET is just "tall tales." NOT TRUE. So you made a 92% overall. Join the club, so did I. But for some people, reading or math is more difficult. A lot of people who may not be from here have to take the test, and our English structure is a lot more difficult for them to learn. It just doesn't come as natural to them as others. I know people who made 4.0's in their sciences, but had a hard time on the reading portion of the test.

As a matter of fact, I have attached a copy of my NET score sheet showing the high risk, at risk and North American average scores. This is the basic version, and it shows that most North Americans make a 69% or lower on most categories that count (reading, math) on the NET. This isn't to scare anybody, it is to show that while it may be "basic" skills on the NET, not everybody has the so called high scores that some people on here claim is easy to make. It may not be as easy to others, and saying that it is a piece of cake tends to make some people feel very inferior.

For everyone who has yet to take the test, good luck and relax!! It really isn't that bad, but the time on it can hurt. Just study the book that ERI world has, or go to the website that I posted previously.

Blessed...Hi!! Did you have an actual science test on the NET or just reading based on science?! My school said the reading is based on something scientific, but that we didn't need to actually study chem, etc. for it. Did you have the English portion i.e. written expression on yours?! My school says we don't have that. Thank God. lol

Yes, we actually had a Science portion on there.It was about 10 questions and covered the 4 different sciences. It supposedly doesn't count against the person taking the test, but...my feeling is, why would they put it on there of they don't at least look to see how you did!!! When I took it the 1st time, I didn't get not 1 question correct, and I had taken A&P 1 and intro to A&P and was in A&P 2 and Micro. IMO, would they really want to accept someone who missed ALL the questions relating to A&P and Micro since that is what the person would be doing for a living?!? But, yeah, there are questions on there. If you were able to see my attachment, it labels all the different sections that was on my test.

Yes, the 1st test I took was a scientific reading, and it was the one that was more difficult. There wasn't much of a difference as far as being able to tell "regular" reading vs "scientific" reading, but it was more opinionated, and obviously more difficult. Also, we did have the written expression that was part of the reading, but supposedly not counted against us. But...the main thing to remember is...IT IS STILL DOABLE AND PASSABLE!
