CPR certification

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Is there a "certain or particular" CPR course that u need for nursing school? I went inline to Red Cross to register & it asked for lay responders, professional responders, etc. my schools handbook just says "heart saver CPR certification". My class is tomorrow & I don't want to get certified then find out It wasn't the correct one.

Thank god for being an EMT. My agency gives me my certifications for freeeeeeeee.

My program requires AHA BLS for healthcare providers. I pd $50 including "textbook" and got my official card before leaving the class, AFTER passing the written exam. Good luck!

After Thursday, I'll have taken both American Red Cross AND American Heart Association-- because I didn't realize there were options. Now I'll be a CPR expert. :p

If no one tells u how would u know?!

Now u'll be extra prepared lol it doesn't hurt!!

Hey guys! I cancelled my sept 4th class at my university because I took the class today at our local hospital and passed! It was $55 including book and my card comes in 2 weeks!

That's a good idea! I almost spent 110 to take mine, but didn't even think to check the local hospital.

I didn't either at first. I thought it was for employees only, but it's open to the public too. I know, I paid $110 to the Red Cross then cancelled the night before after finding out its not the class I need and only got $55 back. :(

Mandy,

It's very possible that you could take a Heartsaver class and still not have met your institution's requirements. I would recommend anyone that is in your shoes to clarify with the administration whether you need a healthcare provider CPR class or a layperson CPR class. In nursing school, I would lean more towards the healthcare provider class.

I hope this is helpful,
