Can I get into Nursing Program?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Hey everyone.

I have 3 more prerequisites (anatomy, microbiology, & physiology) left until I apply for the nursing program. However, I have a fear of getting rejected to the schools I wanted to go since I did get rejected the first time when I tried applying in high school. After 2 years in community college, I am able to get my G.P.A. to a 3.25. However, with my classes that I'm taking this semester, I'm hoping to raise it to at least 3.4 or 3.5 & I'm hoping to get all A's in my bio classes. The schools I'm looking to are Cal State Long Beach & Cal State Fullerton which are my top two schools with Cal State Long Beach being my first priority since sophomore year of high school (now I'm in my junior year of college). Do you guys think I'll be able to get into Cal State Long Beach and into the nursing school if I do well in the rest of my science classes & get a high score on my TEAS test? I'm also doing volunteer work right now too which I don't think matters anymore for Cal State Long Beach. I also received 2 B's for my chem classes, but I heard that the bio classes matters more for Cal State Long Beach. I'm not sure. Anyways, please let me know what you think. I'll be applying summer of 2016 which I'm really excited about. :) My last resort is just my community college that I attend or to one of the UC's.

are not anatomy and phys one class. Normally you have API the first semester and APII the second. However maybe your school does it differently.

Can you get in? Well if you meet or exceed minimum requirements then apply and see what happens.

Can you pin-point the specific reason why you've may have received two B's in your chem classes? Because if you know the reason why you didn't get A's in those science classes then you can change your study habits (or whatever) to make sure you can get them A's in your final prequisites classes. Also do you know an estimate of when you would take your Teas? If it's January or February then I would start getting the necessary study materials now and begin taking it day by day. Because even if you don't get the overall GPA you're looking for you can still do amazing on the Teas and it will make up for it.

Ya, not all schools do it like that. In my area, all the schools offer and require anatomy as one class, and physiology as another.

Hii. Well I didn't do well in my first 2 science classes because somewhere along the way I was focusing too much on my other classes. But I am planning to change my schedule for the fall semester to make it my plan to go to school for 2 days, & all of the other days is focused for anatomy. Thanks for the suggestion! I'm definitely going to look into purchasing the material asap!

Yeeeah my school's different. We can take the classes according to our preference.
