Janelly, just out of curiosity how much are you studying and whats your mode of studying? I am so blown I just got a C on the histology exam!! I'm not used to getting such a low grade, so I'm trying to reconfigure my study methods!
Well, they say you need a minimum of 3 hrs a day which is bogus for me. Hahaha I need 6. Sigh!
Right now I use my anatomy coloring book... My book, practice tests online, class notes, everything. I put it all on flash cards (a bit time consuming but you write it all out and that helps.) Know both sides of the cards! I also watch youtube videos too.
Lots of study material on chapters on quizlet. Also participate in a study group, and you're fine when you can teach it/correct misinformation.

    It's tough work.

Appreciate the responses guys. I guess it was silly of me to think I'd be alright with a stellar memory!

That sucks Chelsea, I know how disheartening a low grade can be. Do you know what material on the test you had the most trouble with?

My methods are similar to Janelly's, but for histology I found repetition to be key. I looked at loads of microscope slides, and studied them until I could identify them all, as well as being able to name where they were located. I made a chart with each tissue, their function, and location. Having everything in one place really helped me get it down.

I'm a very visual learner, so YouTube videos, pictures of bones/tissues etc really helped me. I also have the coloring book. If your teacher doesn't require one, I would get one anyway.

Does your instructor drop any of your test grades? Try not to get too down on yourself. It's more important to identify why you didn't do as well as you would like, and make appropriate adjustments for the next test.

Chelsea. Try not to beat yourself up you WILL do much better from here on out. For me recording the lecture. Making notecards and being kind of obsessive about the studying every night has helped me. Once u find a strategy to retain this info u will soar. I have no doubts.

Yay! Congrats!! I had mine today and I am so over the moon, especially since I was so anxious I felt like I was going to puke or pass out the whole time I was taking it. I got 104/100!!!!

I really appreciate the support everyone! It was so not like me, I mean, I'm an A/B student always so a C really makes me feel crappy. My professor does not drop any grades but this test was only worth like, 80 something points and there are some points heavy tests coming up, so I just have to well on them! I've been recording my lectures, but not listening to them enough!

Me too!! Although, I think I will get my term paper for lecture out of the way over the break.

Chelsea, I am the same way so I can totally empathize. I am also guilty of not listening to my lectures often. When I do, I listen to them right before going to bed to aid memory retention. I am sure you will be able to bring up your grade, don't stress! And we are always here for support!

Got our grades back today. Professor prefaced with "these are the worst test scores I have ever seen." then he went around the room asking how much everyone studied. He saved me for last. I made the highest in the class with an 87.5 but after adding up all my bonus points I accrued I ended up with a 102.5. He didn't share that with the class but made a point over how much I studied compared to the rest. Only 4-5 more tests left with our next being next Thursday. Over the chemistry of cells, balancing equations and other cell type stuff. Plus a nutrition midterm. I'm glad I'm taking only 2 classes for sure.
