A&P 2 What part was the hardest for you?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

I am currently in A&P 2nd Semester and we just started a few weeks ago with the Endocrine System. Don't get me wrong I am interested in all this stuff but I would LOVE to know,

What parts did you find the easiest or hardest in this class? I want to know what to expect so I can ramp myself up for the rest of the course

Thanks!

Cardiac was the most interesting but also the hardest for me. That darn cardiac cycle had me confused until this EMT in my class explained it to me better.

Respiratory is somewhat hard, but with alot of repetition it gets easier.

I can only think of the hard stuff sorry!

My professor showed us mercy and left endocrine for last. I think if it had been first, it would have been hardest. I think urinary was the most complicated in my opinion. Tracing the path of urine and blood flow, remembering what controls all of it, and also remembering the basic anatomy was a bit overwhelming.I liked cardiovascular as well, for some reason. Since we skipped endocrine, we started with cardiovascular and I loved it. My absolute favorite was lymphatic. Our WBCs are freaking awesome. (I embrace dorkhood proudly lol)

We also started with the Cardiovascular and spent the most time on it so it seems pretty easy. I did the endocrine system last as well, so I knew how to study for the test by then there were a lot of hormones to learn for that. The very hardest part for me was the Kidney! Best of luck to you!

I loved all the organ systems, but if there is one that I really need to go back and refresh, would be the respiratory system. I'm alittle fuzzy on the tidal volume, vital capacity... In A&P 1, it would be the skeletal.

we did endocrine in a&p1. a&p2 was the same teacher so was just a follow through. we did cardiac, blood, vessels first. the hardest for me is a tie between the chapter on acid/base-fluids-electolytes and the chapter on metabulism/krebs/cellular respiration. the former i finally understand-a YEAR later, thanx to nursing knowledge not cuz of a&p. krebs and cellular respiration i still dont get. and i still didnt know it in micro-got all those q's wrong on the test in a&p and micro.

the organ systems and the like (the ones with pathways so to say) i had an easier time with because i took basic bio in HS so i had some background. i def enjoyed a&p2 more than 1.

later in the semester i borrowed an EMT book from a classmate. the book was awesome to say the least. explained the how and what of each system that can go wrong in a simple manner. VERY different view of the body than from the nursing perspective lol

Hhmmmmm....for me it was the nervous system!!!!

I loved lab! The dissection, the equipment, the microscopes, etc. Loved all of it.

I HATED the whole Kreb's Cycle lecture experience. And it's not like I only had to hear it once. No. We got it in A&P, we got it in Chemistry and we got it in Nursing II. I learned it so that I could write an essay test question for the final, and then I've never thought of it again. And right now, I couldn't begin to tell you what it's about!

The part that made me suffer the most was endocrine system. "What's producing what, what organ(s) is(are) targeted, names of the hormones, what changes trigger the reactions, yadda yadda yadda".

For some reason how kidneys work caught my attention. I never thought something as simple as "pressures" would be so important for our body. Same with respiration.

And the lab part was really fun. Our class "played" a lot with the pig's lungs. We were surprised at their capacity of expansion and how soft they were, with that "memory foam" texture. Or the activity with the EKG machine, the multistix strips, etc.

I think Cardio Vascular system was the hardest, but nothing like nervous system in A&P I, yuck. I had such a great professor for lecture and lab in A&P II going to class was a pleasure, he so really good in lab, he would go 100 times if he had to so we understand everything. I also video tapped his labs and recorded his lectures, made such a huge difference.

Good Luck to you, I loved A&P II.

The most difficult I would have to say was cardiac..mostly having to know the order in which blood flows from the specific chambers to arteries to veins, etc.

This was a very intense course but I literally studied everyday, even if for 15 minutes, so that I never got behind.

I agree that the cardiac cycle was the most difficult. Be sure to really know it because understanding how the blood flows through the heart will help you to wrap your mind around the pathology of heart conditions during peds & med/surg.

I thought A&P I was more difficult than A&P II - all those bones and muscles to memorize!
