I had my first A&P II class today and i'm not digging it! Our teacher is teaching at another school and we have to watch her on tv...the whole time she's cutting out and the screen isn't always clear...plus because she's not actually in the class everyone else thinks they can talk which distracts me even more . On a good note though we're having an open lab so that should be fun. I'm so looking foward to getting this last pre-req out of the way!!

Class was really interesting. I was surprised we didnt cover more, but we had lots of class discussion. I think this will be much more interesting than A&P 1.

I think things must be going as slow for everyone else as they are for me until after Labor Day. Noone else knows anything to post about either. I hope everyone has a wonderful Labor Day.

Well, even though we have not covered even half the chapter on blood, I have read most of the chapter twice. I never knew blood was so complicated.

    How is class going everyone?

Isn't that the truth? It's amazing how much is involved with blood.
I have terrible blood phobia and jsut thinking about it or reading the word "blood" would make me sick...now I am FORCED to deal witlh the subject in debth and it will cure me of my phobia....I may end up really loving blood when it's all said and done. :wink2: It's super interesting though!
It was like that with snakes, and other critters too...until I had my sons...they "FORCED" me to deal with those subjects, too by reading it and having to go to the exibits at the 1000 zoos that I have visited with them. I now even have a favorite snake.....
It's amazing what you can do if you HAVE to.

I heard someone say they had to trace a drop of blood through the heart, lungs and the rest of the circulatory system. So far, I havent heard whether we will have to know that before nursing school, but I know we will have to then.
This is going to be much more detailed learning than A&P 1. I know now what everyone means when they say A&P 2 is more critical thinking. I sure wish I had my A&P 1 instructor. I think finding a study group will be essential to the success of this class.

Good luck with finding a good study group....I am not counting on it, it's always the same, people have 1 million excuses why they can't study...at least that's how it has been since I started taking pre-requisites at my school and I have pretty much given up asking others. I am doing just fine on my own. You are right about it being very detailed. My A&P 1 class was pretty much like it, too. Our prof needed us to know everything in detail so I am very well "conditioned" to study in detail. I already like my A&P2 teacher much better since he is so organized and gives us GREAT notes, just like my micro teacher did. Well, the first test will determine whether he is as good as everyone says he is. We will do fine....just study study and study some more. Read your notes every day :wink2:

I need a good site that shows the blood flow via the heart, nothing complex just a simple instruction site, is there such a thing to where I can "see" it. Thanks.

I will check with someone and see if she has one. That would be interesting and helpful.

I am new here and taking AP II this semester as well as developmental psych and nutrition. I took AP I spring semester and it was kind of a joke. Our class was just straight memorizing and labeling pictures and the labs were pretty much look at a prepared slide, draw pictures of what you see and answer a few questions.

I wish I had dissections like some of you, at least you learn something that way. It was so frustrating taking AP I that I am doing II online. We still have to go in 4 saturdays for the lab component/exams but atleast it won't be every week like before. I really hope it gets better!

I'm looking forward to getting to know people! I'm hoping to apply to nursing schools in seattle for fall 07. I have micro left to take.

I know what you mean about disecting. I really dreaded it because I was thinking it would make me sick to do that, but it wasnt bad. I did learn a lot and I found I learned better by the hands on. Same with the bones. It is just different when you can see where everything actually is. Maybe I will find that inserting i.v.s and drawing blood isnt as bad as I am thinking either.
