Yes, the endocrine system is a real challenge. We had that for our final chapter in A&P 1. We are starting with blood first and then the heart.

Well im in my second week of A&P II. I haven't taken A&P I yet, and we are starting with the nervous system, and so far I think i have a good understanding of it. I have my first quiz today..... wish me luck.

Well, I had my first class today. I think this instructor is going to be a bit more challenging than my A&P1 instructor, but I need to look on the bright side. I will learn more. He will definitely challenge us more. Doesnt seem like lab is quiet as formal as in A&P 1 or even my biology classes, but I think the lecture class will be more of a big deal than the others.

Good luck. Let us know how it went.

Yikes, this class will be A LOT...the teacher appears to be organized and WILL not tolerate gum poppers and cellphones going off.

He already talked about the hematocrit, WBC etc....we are starting off with blood... we will disect a fetal pig in lab, we'll have 4 lecture tests, 3 lab tests, one of those can be dropped. All tests are 80% and the final is 20%. No extra credit or papers etc.

We can do it!!!!! Hang in there, take it by the horns and break a leg.:monkeydance:

You have to disect? We did that in A&P 1, but dont have to in the second one. I think a fetal pig would be worse than a cat. We started very briefly talking about blood. I think it is going to be pretty intense. I dont think he really minds cell phones. I figured he would say :nono:. I am afraid we will have a few disruptions, but then, I am not the teacher. He asked that they be turned off at all times, but if someone had a good reason to need one on, to just let him know ahead of time. I think all cellphones should be at lease turned to silence. I do that every time before I get out of my car at school.

I dont think we have any chance for extra credit either. We didnt in A&P 1 either, so I am not surprised.

Specializes in OR Internship starting in Jan!!.

We covered blood and the nervous system in A&P I. We are starting with the endocrine system. Our lab tests count as 30% of our grade and are just blank tests with no multiple choice, no answer bank, nothing. I just found out that other campuses get multiple choice and true false tests! Boy, did I pick the wrong campus!!

On Wednesday we will prick our fingers and prepare a bloodsmear which we will then examine under the microscope, how about that for breaking us in for nursing school :caduceus: I hope I won't faint......

Wow. You wont faint. I have done that, but it was when I was checking to see if I had diabetes one time. A friend has it and I was really thinking I did. I had a lot of the symptoms, but mine turned out ok. It didnt even hurt. I think what I would have more trouble with would be drawing blood from the arm. I know I can get past that, but I dont look forward to doing that at all. Sounds like a neat lab project.

Study hard. YOu can do it. Good luck.

We had the LAMEST blood lab last night. Though the lab manual had us drawing our own blood and viewing it via oil immersion, using the machine to determine hemocrit, ect. all we did was look at a pre-prepared slide of a blood smear  and we drew pictures of the diff types of WBC....

Apparently my school is afraid of liability of any kind--I just yearn for the olden days when I typed my blood in HS biology (some time ago....)

Does anyone else's school really fail to provide meaningful lab experiences????
