Who all is taking A&P 2 ? Is there going to be a club?

Specializes in OR Internship starting in Jan!!.

We looked at prepared blood slides in my A&P I class. Lab is usually a waste of time IMO. Most of the stuff in there I can get on my own time outside of class. I wish there was more structure. That being said, I start my A&P II lab today, so maybe it will be different :)

We had the LAMEST blood lab last night. Though the lab manual had us drawing our own blood and viewing it via oil immersion, using the machine to determine hemocrit, ect. all we did was look at a pre-prepared slide of a blood smear  and we drew pictures of the diff types of WBC....

Apparently my school is afraid of liability of any kind--I just yearn for the olden days when I typed my blood in HS biology (some time ago....)

Does anyone else's school really fail to provide meaningful lab experiences????

I hope we can do something using our own blood. I think doing nothing but looking at lab slides is boring. Maybe it wont be as bad in A&P as it was in biology.

Hi! I'm new here. I'm taking A&P II this semester. Three semesters ago I took A&P I, luckily I have the same professor for lecture and he's awesome. Unfortunately, for lab, I have a new teacher, and he seems young and really nervous.

I applied to the nursing program, but unfortunately I got a letter in the mail today stating that I needed to retake Chem because it has been longer ago than 5 years since I last took it. Oh well. Anyway, this site looks awesome and full of great info! I'm happy to be here!

I am sorry. Seems often times, there are any number of things that will prevent us from getting in the first time. The important thing is dont give up. Keep plugging away at classes until it happens.

Well second day of A&P II done. I have the same teacher I had for Micro this past summer......he is tuff but I like him. We did Endocrine in A&P I and started with The Nervous System.

I had my first A&P II class today and i'm not digging it! Our teacher is teaching at another school and we have to watch her on tv...the whole time she's cutting out and the screen isn't always clear...plus because she's not actually in the class everyone else thinks they can talk which distracts me even more . On a good note though we're having an open lab so that should be fun. I'm so looking foward to getting this last pre-req out of the way!!

Class was really interesting. I was surprised we didnt cover more, but we had lots of class discussion. I think this will be much more interesting than A&P 1.

I think things must be going as slow for everyone else as they are for me until after Labor Day. Noone else knows anything to post about either. I hope everyone has a wonderful Labor Day.

Not slow at all....A LOT of material....the teacher talks fast and I tape him...boy I can't believe the amount of info covered in the first week and we are just getting started!!!!!! But then again I may just be getting way tooooo old and sloooooow :jester: God help me make it through and get an A.

Well, even though we have not covered even half the chapter on blood, I have read most of the chapter twice. I never knew blood was so complicated.

How is class going everyone?

we just learned the veins and arteries at my last lab on thursday! it was so overwhelming. we have only one model, and on the test were going to have to a tracing on our lab practical! any suggestions on how to learn the veins and arteries? or any good websites?

Isn't that the truth? It's amazing how much is involved with blood.

I have terrible blood phobia and jsut thinking about it or reading the word "blood" would make me sick...now I am FORCED to deal witlh the subject in debth and it will cure me of my phobia....I may end up really loving blood when it's all said and done. :wink2: It's super interesting though!

It was like that with snakes, and other critters too...until I had my sons...they "FORCED" me to deal with those subjects, too by reading it and having to go to the exibits at the 1000 zoos that I have visited with them. I now even have a favorite snake.....

It's amazing what you can do if you HAVE to.
