Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I'm almost 32 and just about finished my first quarter back. I will have 9 more pre reqs to take before I can apply for the program. I would love to chat with others and cheer each other on along the way. OH, and does anyone else think English 101 is kinda hard?! And why the hell does it have to be one of the 4 classes that count at my school? I'm going crazy!

I'm 34 with eight kids and just finishing up my first year of the BSN program. I had planned on ADN, but then my hubby's job moved us here where they only offer LPN, or BSN. They do have LPN to ADN but in the long run its longer than the straight BSN so I went for it! Nursing school is such a ride! I have my last pharmacology final EVER tomorrow and I'm too nervous to sleep! Lol

Wow! What a story! Best of luck to you on your final!

Hello Everyone! I'm starting my BSN program on Sept 2 and I'm 31 years old. I think this a wonderful thread to keep the 30+ encouraged. I see some of you are doing the Associate degree route. I'm not sure what state your in but I'm in Arizona and most of the hospitals out here are not hiring you if you don't have a bachelors degree. Just a word of advice, look more into the hospitals or clinics of your choice before you make a decision.

I am 36 years old and have three kids (10, 8 and 5). I have been selected to move onto the interview stage, and as long as I pass my HESI exam, I will be starting my BSN program the end of September. This summer will be my 7th semester back in college, and my program is 21 months! I am really hoping that I am not the "old" one of the class.....

Best wishes to you all! I am 36 and just graduated! Best decision I ever made! Much faith and many prayers for all!

I was 36 when I started my pre-reqs part-time while I worked full-time. I finished pre-reqs last December at 39 & applied to 2 ADN programs this past January. I received 2 acceptance letters right before my 40th birthday last month! I'll be an RN at 42 and plan on immediately doing a BSN bridge program while working as a nurse! :-) I can't wait!!!

For all of you just starting your pre-reqs or already going through them, don't let the stress & work load discourage you. Keep your eye on the prize! Good luck everyone :-)

And oh, Northern California (Bay Area) here :-)

I'm 35 ;) Just finished my pre-reqs and applying to start this fall for nursing school (ADN) and will immediately do an online bridge program before I start my NP program!

~Melissa~ what online bridge program will be you be doing? Even though I have two years to plan mine, it's never to early to start looking for options!

BSN for me!!! :)

Looks like I'm the 'winner' in terms of who is the oldest on this post. haha.

I know this is a pre-nursing thread to meet, encourage and cheer on other 30+ students, I just wanted to send my well wishes to you all.

I started LPN school a few months before turning 38, graduated a few months after turing 39. I worked for a few years as I took my pre-reqs for LPN to RN bridge.

I just turned 44 and will graduate RN school on Friday!

I just wanted to pop in and wish you all the best.

Loving this thread! I'm 33 and will be starting an ADN program in the fall. I also have a six year old boy who competes with me for the best grade. I love when I would get my recent test score in A&P and I would tell him "Mommy got a 94" and he would respond "If you study really hard, you can get a 100 like me." Love it!

I am really enjoying this thread! Unequaledbeauty30, I work as a teaching assistant and have always planned on finishing my teaching degree, but like you, I just don't feel the passion anymore. I am so excited to pursue my nursing dreams.

I feel that being "older" makes me take my education and schooling so much more seriously now. I am almost grateful that I am starting this somewhat later in life. When I was trying to finish my teaching degree (in my 20's) I just wasn't as motivated and my GPA sufferred because of it. Does anyone else feel the same way? I feel like these days, I won't settle for anything less than a B (and even a B bothers me)!

That is so cute!!! I think having our children see how hard we work to accomplish our nursing goals is so awesome. I can't wait for my kids to see me on graduation day! I want them to know that they can accomplish anything they want, even later in life, even when they may have obstacles.
