Too late to apply to PCT jobs?

I am a 4th semester nursing student (I will graduate in May 2012.) I am starting to apply to RN nursing positions but I have also applied to PCT jobs. Is it too late for someone who will graduate in 3 months to apply to PCT positions? I worry that I will have a hard time finding an RN job without prior experience working in the health care field. I also worry that I won't be considered for a PCT job because I am soon to graduate from a nursing program. Is it okay to still apply to PCT as well? I know some places will not allow you to work as a PCT once a registered nurse. But, I am looking for any sort of experience!

I am having trouble even getting a PCT job. I have applied to a few jobs in October. I think I also applied to a few jobs my first year of nursing.

it doesnt hurt to try. i got my tech job in dec. i grad in may as well, and they knew this too bc its all over my resume/ job app etc.. lol.

give it a shot. the worst that can happen is u get hired and get ur foot in the door for RN spots :)

I agree with the above, it never hurts to try. I applied for an ER tech job in August, started in September and I was graduating in December. They actually liked the fact that I was graduating soon because they intended on moving me to an RN position once I passed NCLEX (if they wanted to keep me, of course). I graduated, passed NCLEX and I'm happy to report that they made me an offer to stay on board in the ER as an RN. My advice would be to apply and see what happens. If anything, at least you are getting your name and resume out there. Good luck!

i actually just got hired today, and they considered it to be a nurse intern job. so as long as i didnt have any problems while working, i will earn my RN and become one in the company as well. check out HCA

Have you tried the per diem (temp) agencies yet? Might be a good way to find a job that will fit around your school schedule.
