Legacy RN Versant Residency 2015 Winter

U.S.A. Oregon

Legacy RN Versant Nurse Residency Program, start date February 23, 2015. I just wanted to post this thread, so that those of us who applied for this cohort can communicate about the application process. Did you apply? If so, which unit and location? Have you heard anything yet? Any idea how many applicants applied this time? I hope everyone gets their unit of choice. This is a very tough program, but seems worth the effort. I want to wish everyone the best of luck!

I haven't received that email either. Do you know when they sent the email requesting the references?

I'm beginning to feel dismal about my chances. Has anyone heard anything else?

I only just received reference/etc. email requests yesterday (for women's health).

So did I! :) this feels like a good sign. It was for Women's health too. Which location were you interviewing for?

Emanuel, how about you?

Emanuel, how about you?

Good Samaritan. I really wish you the best of luck! How exciting! Are you nervous? Do you have any experience to help you get it?? This is seriously so nerve wracking! But super fun and exciting too! :)

Good luck to you as well! Yes, I am nervous--about getting it or not getting it (obviously I very much want to do the program). I have been applying for jobs since my license came through a couple of months ago and not a peep back until this so I am not sure how I will find a job without this new grad program. And if I do get it--it's a bit intimidating to think that after 18 weeks I am supposed to be trained on L&D, mother/baby, gyne, etc. Though I know the experienced nurses will be helpful even after the 18 weeks are over. :)

And no, I don't have any real experience to help secure the job, but I think it's really much more about how they think you will fit into the culture of the floor (as long as they think you are competent enough). I hope so anyway and I hope that they think I would do well there!

I couldn't agree more that it seems to be more about how you jive with the unit. I personally find it hard to believe that they would pay for a background check (providing it comes back okay), and not offer a job. Did you just graduate with your BSN? I have less than six months of experience, but none of it pertains directly to L & D moreso to something like Med/Surg. I'm just so nervous! I keep checking my email and this forum looking for an update! :) do you know how they're going to let us know if we got it? Email or phone call?

Also, I'm sure in 18 weeks you'll feel ready! Think positive! :) I hear that they're training program is outstanding. It also includes SimLab work! I got to do some of that with my school, and it was very helpful. I doubt they'll "release" us if we're not ready. Plus, sometimes they've hired more than one person into the residency. I'm sure if there's two newbies that they can be a wealth of suppprt for one another!

My husband said the same thing about the background check. And I am also nervously checking everything! I have no idea how/if/when they will contact anyone. I think that most likely they would contact us the same way as for the interviews (for that they called my cell phone). But maybe since it would have a lot of paperwork, they would email. I really have no idea.

The manager at Emanuel said they're actually hiring four into the Versant program this cohort--two on day shift and two on night shift.

Oh, and I graduated in August, but in another state. Moved to this area (due to my husband's job) and took the NCLEX... I think around the third week of September. Had to transfer my out of state license to OR and WA and those came through a bit later. I've been applying for hospital jobs since my first local license came through but haven't been working. If I don't get into this program, I will expand my search to other types of facilities/jobs and/or try to find some volunteer work in order to occupy myself, learn, network, etc.

I'll reply more later...but really quick...wait...did you mean Emanuel's Womens Health is hiring 4 versant RNs alone?

Yes, I believe that's what she said.

For my interview they called me too, but I don't think any paperwork will be involved immediately when a job is offered. Since it's a legal contract I'm sure they're going to handle the paperwork in person. They did mention an "on boarding" meeting if offered a job. There I assume they'll handle the contract, tax, health insurance, and other paperwork. They'll also need to do a physical exam and drug test I bet at the same time too. My best guess is it'll be a phone call, and then they'll send us an email with the next steps outlined.

That's great that Emanuel is hiring four!!! That only increases your chances! :) were you going for day or night shift?

Sounds like you have a good contingency plan just in case! :) I started out not at a hospital, and it's been tough, but seriously one of the best experiences ever! I've learned a lot. Especially regarding things you don't do in school, such as contacting physicians and charting. You'll make it. You must be pretty appealing for hire if you made it this far! :) there were about 600 candidates to begin with. By the second interview about 125, and now I'm sure even a lot fewer than that. I just hope you and I get it. It would be soooo amazing! :)
