I prefer night shift too. I haven't heard anything except that my background check is complete. That notification came from Taskstream. I'm so full of nerves at this point! Did they call you?

For my interview they called me too, but I don't think any paperwork will be involved immediately when a job is offered. Since it's a legal contract I'm sure they're going to handle the paperwork in person. They did mention an "on boarding" meeting if offered a job. There I assume they'll handle the contract, tax, health insurance, and other paperwork. They'll also need to do a physical exam and drug test I bet at the same time too. My best guess is it'll be a phone call, and then they'll send us an email with the next steps outlined. That's great that Emanuel is hiring four!!! That only increases your chances! :) were you going for day or night shift? Sounds like you have a good contingency plan just in case! :) I started out not at a hospital, and it's been tough, but seriously one of the best experiences ever! I've learned a lot. Especially regarding things you don't do in school, such as contacting physicians and charting. You'll make it. You must be pretty appealing for hire if you made it this far! :) there were about 600 candidates to begin with. By the second interview about 125, and now I'm sure even a lot fewer than that. I just hope you and I get it. It would be soooo amazing! :)

I'll reply more later...but really quick...wait...did you mean Emanuel's Womens Health is hiring 4 versant RNs alone?

I couldn't agree more that it seems to be more about how you jive with the unit. I personally find it hard to believe that they would pay for a background check (providing it comes back okay), and not offer a job. Did you just graduate with your BSN? I have less than six months of experience, but none of it pertains directly to L & D moreso to something like Med/Surg. I'm just so nervous! I keep checking my email and this forum looking for an update! :) do you know how they're going to let us know if we got it? Email or phone call? Also, I'm sure in 18 weeks you'll feel ready! Think positive! :) I hear that they're training program is outstanding. It also includes SimLab work! I got to do some of that with my school, and it was very helpful. I doubt they'll "release" us if we're not ready. Plus, sometimes they've hired more than one person into the residency. I'm sure if there's two newbies that they can be a wealth of suppprt for one another!

Good Samaritan. I really wish you the best of luck! How exciting! Are you nervous? Do you have any experience to help you get it?? This is seriously so nerve wracking! But super fun and exciting too! :)

I just want everyone to realize that this residency isn't the end of the world. Would it be fantastic, utterly amazing, and fabulous? Of course! However, in the few months since I was turned down last July, I've realized that it'll be okay if it doesn't happen. The first round I thought I would just about die if I didn't get it, because as a new grad I couldn't find work. It was horrible trying to get anyone to even interview me. However, I have found a LOT of experience, and gained a LOT of wisdom in LTC. it was the only work I could find, and I know I could do better...eventually, but for now I am learning a lot. I just want to put some positive out there for those of you that are facing LTC if this doesn't work out. There can be a silver lining in the rain cloud. Just understand that it's temporary to get the darn experience that we all need, and that we will all have our chance to specialize at some point in our careers. Don't get me wrong...how good your experience is in LTC is totally site specific, and some are horrible while others are wonderful, but you can make it a good experience if you learn from it. Keep hope, because it's truly not the end of the world. :)

Hey there. They're doing second interviews through the month. Don't lose hope yet guys. The "under review" is a good sign. Means you haven't been cut from the race yet. Keep hope!
