Applicants to Portland area schools

U.S.A. Oregon

Published

Greetings fellow future nurses! I just mailed my application packets for Mt. Hood CC, Clackamas CC, and Portland CC today and excited to be done with them. I have my proctored essay for OHSU this Wednesday and am a little worried because I have NO idea what is going to be asked. I haven't been able to get any feedback on what is on any of the essays. I am also applying to Chemeketa but am probable wasting my time as I am missing 2 of the pre-recs required there that aren't required at the OCNE schools. Well, the worst they can say is no, right?

Anyway, the Oregon Nursing Programs sections has been a little dead lately so I was hoping to spark some dialogue. This is my first year applying and I'm already getting a little stressed. I kind of have a lot riding on getting in somewhere next fall. My fiance and I are kind of planning on it. I'm hoping that doesn't backfire! How's it going with everyone?

I got in to PCC. I am actually on PCC campus right now and my wife called to tell me something came in the mail from PCC. I asked her if it is a big envelope or a small one. She said, "looks small." I was freaking out a bit and told her to go ahead and open it. "Congratulations!"

I made it. Yay!

Congratulations to everyone who has made it into a program so far!!! To those who haven't don't give up hope yet... many students will decline spots in programs or wait lists! I have my fingers crossed for everyone! I am wait listed for PCC: number 27. I will be declining due to accepting Mt. Hood's program for Winter term 2013. Hope everyone has a good night!

CongrATULATIONs to all that have gotten into programs and made alternate lists!!! I am declining OHSU fall start in Portland as I accepted the Linfield ABSN offer. Good Luck to everyone in your programs..

Congrats Portland Medic! You started this thread, it only seems fitting that you get accepted. :) I'm going to be interviewing at Clackamas, and then deciding between the two if I also get accepted there.

Congratulations, guys :) I love reading this thread!! I hope you are all celebrating in this gorgeous weather and come back to visit us who are waiting to apply!

It's great to see a lot of you have been accepted into programs! After all the work of pre-requisites and applying, a lot of the questions are finally being answered.

Congratulations to runnergirl09, osuchris, lilpoka, nwnursing, rcj2009, niskagirl, portland medic, gabrianam and skills21! (did I miss anybody?)

Congrats to all the others on getting on the waitlist. Fingers crossed for you!

I have to say that I am so happy to have found this site! The support is so wonderful as we all go through such a stressful time. How great is it that we all have eachother...I guess that is why we all want to be nurses- we care! It's so nice. Thanks to everyone who has been posting and supporting us throughout this whole process. It means a lot to me!

Congrats everyone, your hard work thus far has paid off! For those waitlisted, the majority of you will all get in, no worries, you hard work has paid off too! Now, when we say where we're going, lets try posting where we also got in and we will be declining from schools we were accepted in. Like this:

Accepting MHCC, Declining a spot in PCC, Waiting on CCC.

This will help see where people are going:)

Congrats everyone! I also rcvd my acceptance letter from PCC yesterday!! I'm still a little weary because it was a generic letter (didn't have my name on it) and after waiting 3 years to get in, it just seems too good to be true. Does anyone have their name on the actual letter? Also, I recall during the essay, they informed us when the orientation would be. Does anyone remember the date? I have a vacation planned in June and I'm hoping I don't have to cancel it.

I am waitlist #18 and my name is not on the letter. Can anyone confirm??? I would have thought it would have been put on the letter. Hmmmm....maybe someone should contact them.

Ok- just read response form that I have to send in. Mine says program orientation information will be mailed when dates are scheduled.

I would also like to know when the orientation is, and if Clackamas is going to have one.

Per emmeyers here's my stats:WL: OHSU ABSN, accepted PCC, waiting to hear from Clackamas. I'm undecided between Clackamas and PCC, if they are both on the table.

I'm pretty sure Clackamas lists the date of their mandatory orientation on their nursing website. I have my interview scheduled next week, but may withdraw cuz I got into PCC :)
