For prospective applicants for the 2017 year in the program. Being as I am currently wait listed in the 2016 year due to a very late application, there is a high probability I would have to apply again come November 1st 2016 for the following year acceptance.

November 1st, 2016 is the priority application deadline for the 2017 year. All materials (GRE, official transcripts, application payment, letters of recommendation, statement of intent) must have been submitted by this date.

Letters of acceptance for August 2016 orientation and start were sent out the first week of February 2016. Wait listed recipients received their wait list offer in an around the first week of March 2016 with the caveat that seats may open well into late July.

Hey clee21,

Just wondering how your interview went? I too have applied to the AGACNP program and was unaware that they were conducting interviews. I guess time will tell. Has anyone else here heard anything from the AGACNP application? I got my app in by Nov. 1st and was anxiously awaiting news until finding out decisions won't be made until March. Hope your interview went well and would love to hear about it!

Mr. Figglesworth

Has anyone else applied for the AGACNP program and received a request for interview? I was unaware they were interviewing. I am hoping that this isn't a bad sign for me. The nurse previous who said they had an interview listed acute care experience. I have several years of critical care experience, CCRN, PALS, ACLS perhaps they are only interviewing those with no critical care experience? Anyone feel free to chime in and ease my anxiety! I have strong references and work experience (5years/3.5 in CICU), although my GPA is ~3.2 overall (4.0 for BSN) and I only got a 4.0 on my GRE writing (315/158v). Really hate the idea of stewing until March...

What option are you doing for your classes? (distance, modified block) What do you think of the program and specific classes so far? What would you suggest to do for prep for the intense fall semester?

TIA

Since all full-time students get a partial scholarship, does anyone know how much $$ the partial scholarships typically are per year? Thanks!

The adult gerontology acute care/family nurse practitioner (emergency focus) is not an option in the poll.

Hi! I'm so sorry to bother you about some questions but I can't find any info online:

1. I am scheduled to take the GRE Jan 3rd. Can I submit my application TONIGHT without this score and send them my official scores after?

2. I have taken the MCAT.. will they accept that in place of the GRE?

My program is modified block. We have to be on campus 8 times during the year, for about 4-5 days each.

I am pediatrics, so what I think of the program will mostly only be specific to that: it is a good program, and I feel like I am learning a lot, but you definitely have to be self motivated, especially because of the distance format. I know some people who did not pass all their classes this semester. That can really mess you up because they are prerequisites for the spring classes - if you are full time and fail a class, you may have to drop down to part time because you won't be eligible to take all the spring classes. So it is important to prioritize your schoolwork.

The fall semester class that I have enjoyed the most is, hands down, pathophysiology. It is taught via weekly lecture, which you can attend in person (local students), or watch online (live or at your own schedule). I learned so much and it is incredibly fascinating; great professors. I think that most of the specialties will have that class - possibly with the exception of NNP?

It is too early for you to prepare for the fall yet! Except maybe to do your FAFSA :) But over the summer, you could get one of the assessment textbooks for your speciality curriculum (they will send out lists) and look it over if you wanted. Most important that I wish I had done sooner: start looking for preceptors as soon as you know that you have been accepted (so like, March). Clinicals are harder to set up than I ever expected, and you will be very glad to have those seeds planted. Think about what contacts you can have and start putting out some feelers, because you are competing with local schools many other students.

There was pretty much radio silence for me till right around the end of February last year, but once you get the acceptance letter, you will get more info about a timeline of what needs to be done. You have lots of time, but will need:

All vaccine records, including Hep B series and Tdap within the last 10 years

2 step PPD test within the last year

Hi everyone! I just had my interview for the dual specialty ENP program that lasted approximately 15 minutes as expected. I feel great about the interview and wanted to share what I learned. Each ENP who meets requirements and conditions of admission will be interviewed by ENP faculty, and from there the application will be reviewed by both the FNP and AGACNP departments. I was advised that decisions will go out in February.

Best of luck to each applicant on the forum! Happy Holidays!

YES you can submit your applications without the scores. It's actually preferable to submit the application even if all required documents have not been received. Be advised though, that your application will not be reviewed until all required elements are received. I had this issue specified at open house this October.

I am unsure whether or not they will accept the MCAT in place of the GRE.

Hope this information helps!

Awesome! My interview is in an hour :) Thanks for the info!

Hey all! Just finished my interview. Overall, I think it went excellently.

One new piece of information, maybe specifically for CNM applicants: he told me that they were expecting letters to go out late Feb/early March. This kind of surprised me, as it's gone out earlier in past years, even though they had a later deadline than we did this year. But I guess that's the newest update for anyone waiting... we've got a long way to go!
