Hello everyone! I plan on applying to UTMB for Spring 2018 entry and can't find a post on it, so I decided to make one! I am taking my TEAS end of April. I already have a degree from the University of Houston in Health Communication and minor in Nutrition. I am finishing my last two prerequisites (A&P2, Microbiology) right now at a community college. Anyone else looking to apply? Deadline is coming up next month, so I thought it would be awesome to get a group thread going! Would love to hear from others applying!

Hi there, I applied online for endorsement in newjersy state. How long they take time for my license. It already 6 weeks.

Hey guys ^-^

I'll be sending my application as well. A bit late, but I'll be in before the deadline. I didn't know I would have the chance to apply to UTMB for Spring 2018, but found out last minute I could YAY! Good luck everyone !

For the 1st part i would recommend that if you havent already sign up for the teas now because there are limited amount of locations who have spots open this close to a deadline, so get on that before you miss the deadline. As for the personal statement there is no limit from what we were told at open house but make sure its not too long or drags, here is the website with the informaion on what should be on it Traditional Degree| UTMB School of Nursing in Galveston, Texas as for the stats look at the first couple pages of this thread, some of us have put our stats down. Good luck

Hi guys! I've been following this thread for a while now and I thought it would be a good time to comment! I have also applied for the UTMB spring 2018 traditional BSN program as well. I finished my application the day it opened and sent my transcript to NCAS the 19th of March. NCAS received my transcript the 24th of March and finalized them on the 27th. UTMB enrollment services sent me the supplemental application on the 28th of March. Then enrollment services sent me a string of 3 emails regarding my "mystar" portal login in credentials on the 29th. My stats are as follows: GPA 3.46, a total of 67 college credit hours, TEAS Score Average: 78% Level: Advanced, Reading: 74.5%, Math: 87.5%, Science: 76.6%, English and Language Usage: 70.8%. The last thing I need to do is send off my official transcript to UTMB enrollment services since I graduated recently with my basics(general studies, which is just all of the prerequisites for UTMB). Now is just a waiting game until the deadline passes and then the real waiting begins!! -Kelly T.

It will not say complete until the deadline occurs that is when the school can see your application for review

Does anyone know how much weight UTMB puts into your overall GPA? I've been denied twice already and feel that my overall GPA is really hurting me. My pre-requisite GPA, science GPA, & TEAS scores are not perfect, but look to be competitive. I have over 160 hours on 5 different transcripts and many of those hours have nothing to do with nursing and were taken 20 years ago when I really didn't take it seriously. Looking back through my Nursing CAS applications they seem to calculate GPA's based on subject, institution, then overall. There is no breakdown for pre-requisites or required sciences like all other school look at. I'm afraid once they see the overall GPA they don't even bother looking at my application. If this is the case that's fine, I just want to know so I can stop wasting money and time applying. I can't seem to get an answer from anyone at UTMB, so was hoping someone here may know more.

From what i remember from an open house they said your overall gpa was a major factor as well as the science gpa, im just giving the input that was given out during the open house. Here is a link from the utmb website on what determines how competitive you are overall https://nursing.utmb.edu/future-students/academic-programs/bsn-program/am-i-a-competive-applicant.pdf also from the open house they say the hardest terms to get into are the Fall followed by the Spring and the summer being the easiest due to most student either not wanting to start the semester in a condensed setting or them still taking classes. Hope this helps and don't be discouraged there are still multiple of other schools to apply to and as they say never put your eggs all in one basket. Good Luck

I know it's super late, but I sent in my NCAS application on 5/22, supplemental application on 5/23, and today 5/24 got my mySTAR login and password.

How is everyone else faring?
