UTMB Spring 2018

Published

Hello everyone! I plan on applying to UTMB for Spring 2018 entry and can't find a post on it, so I decided to make one! I am taking my TEAS end of April. I already have a degree from the University of Houston in Health Communication and minor in Nutrition. I am finishing my last two prerequisites (A&P2, Microbiology) right now at a community college. Anyone else looking to apply? Deadline is coming up next month, so I thought it would be awesome to get a group thread going! Would love to hear from others applying!

I recommend dicussing your options about getting titers covered with your physician, maybe under a physical.

Can yall please post on here when yall receive the supplemental application... I still haven't received mine. I think I am just being in impatient.

I recieved my supplemental package a day after receiving my nursing cas acknowledgement letter...all together took about 10 days from start to end

Hmm I haven't received my nursing cas acknowledgement letter yet. Do you mind telling me what the letter said? Its been about 8 days since I turned everything in, but that's also including the weekend.

Sorry I just looked at my email once again it took 4 days from when my grades got verified to when I recieved the sup. Package..but it starts like this

Thank you for applying to the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston (UTMB), School of Nursing - Graduate and Undergraduate Programs, through the Centralized Application Service for Nursing (NursingCAS). At the top of this letter, you will find your NursingCAS application ID number. You will need to use this number to complete the UTMB Supplemental Application form.

Hello everyone. I went to the open house yesterday. I highly recommend attending one of the sessions! It was informative. You will get to see the skills lab, interact with and hear from current students, and get a feel for the program overall.

Here is the scoop on updating your transcripts...

Before you are accepted into UTMB, you send updated transcripts to NursingCAS. Once you are accepted into UTMB, you send updated transcripts directly to UTMB.

Sorry about the back to back posts, but I wanted to share too that your personal statement is of utmost importance. The example was given that if you have 2 students with the same GPA and TEAS scores, which one do you choose? Well, it's the personal statement that sets you apart. Make it stand out! The word used by one of the admission commitee members was it should be compelling.

I've heard the same thing and have mixed feelings about it. I like that they look beyond your GPA & Test score, however I know several that have paid people or writing services to write their personal statement for them. I understand that not everyone is great at writing, but I can see this being an unfair advantage in some cases.

Are we supposed to attach a resume? I went to an open house a while ago and I thought they said no. However, on NursingCAS it says that we need to attach a resume if we don't answer some of the supplemental questions. I'm confused about which one to do.

No you don't have to submit a resume..from what I remember they said they would not look at it or take it into account

I would think they would be able to tell if it's genuine no matter how perfect a person thinks they can write there will always be some mistakes, and I'm sure the admission staff will be able to tell.
