UTMB Spring 2018

Hello everyone! I plan on applying to UTMB for Spring 2018 entry and can't find a post on it, so I decided to make one! I am taking my TEAS end of April. I already have a degree from the University of Houston in Health Communication and minor in Nutrition. I am finishing my last two prerequisites (A&P2, Microbiology) right now at a community college. Anyone else looking to apply? Deadline is coming up next month, so I thought it would be awesome to get a group thread going! Would love to hear from others applying!

Anyone know when we should hear something about getting an interview? My application was sent in just a few weeks after it opened.

I'm not certain, but they may wait until after they have the fall applicants finished up. According to the Fall 2017 posts, they are still conducting their last round of interviews. Now, having said that, I know someone from last year's Spring application period who received her interview invite on June 3rd.

I'm a Fall applicant who was interviewed and accepted. The interview invitations go out in waves. The first wave for Fall started about 3-4 weeks after the deadline and like it was stated above, are still in progress as of last Friday. Just because you don't heard back one the first round when others do doesn't mean it's time to panic. There are so many applicants they have to do it in waves. There will also be people who are admitted sans interview. Don't worry if you aren't one of those people either. It is a LONG marathon of a process that can drive you to your wits end and make you a crazy person if you let it, just try as hard as you can to not let it. The fall forum was very helpful in helping me to stay calm when I would be near tears at certain points. Let them be your support because many of them may be your classmates, better to start building relationships with people as soon as possible anyway if you ask me.

Thank you Jules81 for your encouraging words. The unknown is always difficult, but we can all help each other stay calm by keeping in touch on this forum. If/when I hear anything, I will be sure to post it here!

Let's all keep our hopes up, our nerves calm, and enjoy some summertime. Playing some Rock Band with my kiddos last night took my mind off it for a bit...and of course, I had a blast rockin' out with them too! :)

@jules would you recommend also applying for the summer since it seems you would not hear back until after the summer deadline passes just in case

Howdy y'all,

This will be my second time applying to UTMB. I applied for Fall 2017 and supposedly that was very competitive. If I don't get in this round then I will just become a homeless chess player.

Here are my stats:

TEAS 83%

GPA 3.2

So pretty average. Just wanted to let y'all know that I was on the 2017 Forum and it was a waiting game all-around. Just be patient and keep checking your email, mystar account and this Forum.

Looks like the Fall 2017 group received waitlist notifications today. Hopefully that means we will be hearing about interviews soon.

Does anyone know if they email or mail us our acceptance or denial letters? I know they email us if we get an interview, but I wasn't sure about the letters.

From previous threads, it looks as though acceptance is also an email, potentially maybe even a phone call. Don't quote me on this though!

Alkrn, thank you for the update!!! Seems as though our time is getting closer.

I wouldn't be surprised if we don't hear anything for a week or two. Just my opinion that they will need time to start sifting through all the applications before requesting for interviews.
