USF MSN-CNL non-nurse summer 2017

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello everyone! I am currently waitlisted in the spring 2017 cohort starting in Jan for the USF MSN-CNL non-nurse cohort 23, but I wanted to start a thread for those of you applying to the summer 2017 semester because if I don't get off the waitlist I will be reapplying for summer, and if I do get off the waitlist I can help you all with info on how the process works and what to expect. Either way, since I am going through it right now, I hope to be able to help new applicants. This time can be very stressful. Who all out there is applying?

@smags HOW FUNNY I am taking the hesi literally the next day!! How have you been preparing for it?? I am getting nervous! Which programs are you applying for at SMU and when? I am also waitlisted at USF right now.

By the way, I guess next week we may find out about getting off the waitlist or not based on what our letter says. I guess the deposits for the program are due Nov 14th! I am getting a bit nervous to hear back now!

Goodluck! Being wait-listed is torture but hey your still in the game. Do you know if there is a time limit for classes for ELMSN program at SMU?

It doesn't have a time limit on their website but I have been wondering the same thing. Maybe I will call and find out soon!

@made90 to answer your question, no, the prereques don't have an expiration date! :)

Hi everyone! I'm currently applying for the Summer 2017 cohort :) Like some of you, it took me some time to figure out the right career for me. I just always knew I wanted to help people in need and more specifically, in the area of health. After some exploration and research, I finally decided to pursue nursing and have felt nothing but peace (minus the occasional stress from prerequisite classes). Super excited for what's in store and to connect with you all during this process!

Hi _nursebee! Thanks for joining us!! I have been a little MIA on here lately, just getting other applications together and waiting on a waitlist decision from USF. They told me they plan to keep me waitlisted up until classes start, and if a spot doesn't open for me by then, I reapply. But I have to withdraw my app before jan 15th so I can reapply for summer. Getting everything ready for that!! I know what you mean about stress! The last few months have been super stressful!! Nice to meet you :)

Hi everyone! I am also applying to the Summer 2017 cohort! I applied to Western U a couple months ago, but USF is my first choice. Good luck to everyone!

Hello Everyone! I am also applying to the summer 2017 cohort. I applied last year and did not get in. I think the most frustrating thing for me is the essays. I've been told by others that I am a great "storyteller" and I am sure my reasons for wanting to go into nursing school are no different than many of you. Its the word and character count limitations on the essays that just drive me up the wall.

I am also applying to Samuel Merritt's ABSN program (submitted before the 12/1 deadline), SF State's ELMSN program (taking the GRE tomorrow), the GEPN program at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa, and the Master's Entry program at Johns Hopkins University.

Best of luck to everyone and Happy Holidays!

Hi and welcome! Let me know how the GRE goes? I am getting ready to take it to apply for SF states ELMSN program. How did you prepare for the analytical writing portion?

I purchased a GRE exam prep book. I don't have it anymore but I think it was either GRE for Dummies or McGraw-Hill. Writing is kind of my strong-suits - whereas math is definitely a weakness - so I prepared more in the other 2 sections than the writing.

This my 3rd time taking it. The first time I took it I didn't do much preparation - I think I studied for maybe a week or two - but I went in just wanting to get a feel for the exam. My score on the writing then was 4.0. 2nd time I received a 4.5 in the writing. My 2nd exam may be the one I use for the application but both my 1st and 2nd attempt I did horribly on the quantitative section. So this 3rd attempt is to do better in quantitative, specifically, but in all sections as JHU requires the full GRE exam scores.
