TWU Spring 2014 Applicants

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hey everyone. I just wanted to start a thread for all of those hoping to get into TWU starting Spring 2014. My name is Kia and I have already sent in my application and completed my TEAS V exam. I'll be in the Denton campus patho class this fall (trying to wait patiently for an acceptance letter-GOD willing).

I don't think so. After apply on Pioneer portal and pay $30 then you're done. Just did it now super easy[/quote']

And I'm sorry if this is repetitive, but we get our Pioneer portal login if we get accepted to the school, right?

No, you register on ApplyTexas first, then they e-mail you and ask you to register on Pioneer Portal. After you get your username you can log on Pioneer Portal to check your status. Once you see you are accepted to TWU then you can register their nursing program under my tools. Let me know if you have other questions, i was really confused at first too.

I wonder how many people are applying to TWU for spring 2014. Our forum is so dead compares to the previous lol. Come join us if you haven't registered yet, we would love to hear from other applicants :)

I'm applying for TWU Spring '14 as we speak. I'm done with everything except microbio, which I'm taking right now. Does anyone know if we can apply to both TWU Dallas and Houston campuses? Because I was planning on doing so, but I can't figure out how. I just submitted my Dallas app, and now when I click on the application link via pioneer portal it says my application has already been received. So can I not apply to Houston as well?

I think one reason this one might be dead is because most of the other ones I've seen are under the texas nursing programs forum category

No, I believe you can only apply to one campus.

Hello Laura,

Welcome! Yea i thought you can only apply to one campus, i might be wrong. I tried to click on register for TWU nursing under Pioneer Portal again after i paid the $30, it didn't take me to the registeration again. It just says you have completed this registration.

Good to know, I don't even know how to find forums under that category lol. I usually just type in TWU spring 2014. Anyway, are you applying to other schools besides TWU?

Yeah I guess you can't, because it did the same thing for me. Good thing I did the one I'd prefer first!

You click "U.S" at the top yellow bar and from there they have them divided by state. The link is Texas State Nursing Programs in case you're interested. And yeah, I'm applying to UT Houston as well!

Thank you! I will look into that. I am also applying to UT but I still haven't take my Hesi yet.. How did you do on your test if you don't mind me asking? I feel like I might have a better chance with TWU since I have the 4 preferences and bachelor degree. I heard the Hesi vocab and critical section is hard and I am not too good with reading comprehension.. The deadline is soon! I am getting frustrated, not sure if I should take the test or not.. I believe the deadline is August 15?

I did pretty well I think, here are my scores:

Reading: 90%

Grammar: 96%

Vocab: 100%

A&P: 84%

Math: 90%

Critical Thinking: 870

Cumulative score: 92%

For the vocab: I studied all the quizlet sets for HESI vocab and other sites I could find online. Honestly I think I maybe had 2 words that I hadn't studied. All the other ones were in the study sets.

I'm stronger in the reading/english/vocab category than I am in the science/math, so I think the HESI was easier for me. However, I haven't taken the TEAS yet and I am so scared about the science portion! Have you taken it?

For the critical thinking portion, I browsed these boards, but that's pretty much it. I generally just went with my gut in prioritizing who needed most urgent attention (Questions are phrased as, Patients 1-4 are described, you are then asked what to do in a situation/who to help first ect.) It might help to know what normal vitals are, I memorized those beforehand and it helped me some. Otherwise I wouldn't have known whether a described patient's vitals were off or not.

For the reading portion: I read the sample once, then read the question, and then re read it again carefully looking for evidence of support in an answer.
