TWU Spring 2014 Applicants

Nursing Students School Programs

Hey everyone. I just wanted to start a thread for all of those hoping to get into TWU starting Spring 2014. My name is Kia and I have already sent in my application and completed my TEAS V exam. I'll be in the Denton campus patho class this fall (trying to wait patiently for an acceptance letter-GOD willing).

Hi all

I am applying to TWU as well for spring 2014. Taking microbiology right now and hopefully in August ill be taking the TEAS test. I am freaking out about taking it. I wanted to know if they give a calculator and a scratch paper or something since the test is all online? I mean how will a person do math problems?

Thats great score! I am pretty sure you are competitive, the advisor told me just try aim for a 80% But I know students made in UT are mostly at 90% range. I studied alot of vocabs on the list already but I don't think i am ever prepared for those sections because new words often just keep coming out at me ( English is not my first language). In my opinion if you are good at reading you would be fine on the TEAS, that is the section I did bad on. I ran out of time on reading and that pulled my score down, I made low 70% overall. I got 83% on grammar and math, science i made like 67%... I studied hard for the science, but like most of people say, it is random. Some stuff on the Science was really obvious, some are just like what is that mean! lol -__-" If you are not confident in math, make sure you practice.. I always feel strong in math so i didn't study in math at all. When i was done with that section, I barely made on time. But the book prepares you well on the math, I felt I made 100% but I am not sure why only 83% lol. English took alot of my time because i reread the passage like 3 times.. and the second part is mostly ask what is the best economic value, so make sure you save time for those because they are super easy but they do take time. One advise my friend told me was when you "think" that's the answer, just choose it and go on, DONTTTTT reread but i didn't listen. So I end up guessing on 5-7 questions -_- " The science .. I thought I was really prepared with Human Anatomy and I felt like i knew everything in the review, but still made a 60%! So heart broke, make sure you do go back to your AP book and review because TEAS review doesn't well prepare you for it. I did good on the life science, not sure how, but I didn't get any rock cloud type of questions. You should google some examples of Vaporization condensation etc, because they don't just ask you what the definition, they give you 4 examples.. Grammer section they had something different, they give you 4 lines of small sentences and ask you to arrange in orders. Everything else was covered in the book.

Hello Welcome to our forum!

No TEAS doesn't provide you calculators, they only gave me one scratch paper. I write big so that one scratch paper was not enough I had to get up and ask for more. That wasted me some time, I felt annoyed by that because I felt like they don't want to give me extras. Don't you have to submit your Microbiology grade before the deadline? I remember the advisor said you have to have all your grades in by the deadline. No? I could be wrong

Thank you! I have asked a few people and they said they provide an online calc?! Ugh that sucks that they only give you one piece of scratch paper! I know I'd be ******! Deadline is on September 1 and ill be done with micro on aug 15 and teas on aug 24! Will that be too late? I thought it was okay since it's all before sept 1. Also, do you know if we need anything else, like recommendation letters for twu? Thanks!! I'm so glad I found y'all I have tried asking people qns before even though they were all done with their nursing they still wouldn't help which is frustrating!

You get a calculator for the HESI, but not for the TEAS. And you don't need any letters rec for TWU :) I think you should be okay with those dates, though it's cutting it a little close. I'm in a similar boat, finish microbio on aug 15 and I'm taking the TEAS on Aug 3. Where are you taking micro?

I'm taking micro at Collin, what about you? Yeah, I hope it's not too late I have just been studying here and there since with micro it's a little hard that's why I wanted a week after the class is over to study for it. Do you think it takes them a week or so to get the test scores? And do all the things need to be turned in at the same time...the transcripts and the application?

Laura is correct, no calculators lol and some multiplications are pain in the butt. Its not like 23X23, its more like 234X243 so it takes alot of time and you gota be really accurate. Yea I think your dates are okay, its just very tight but it works as long as its before Sept 1. BUT beware with ATI, their system is always down!!! When I took the test on Sept 1st, they said we will have score up by 42 hrs then they changed to 72 hrs, and on the third day, they were like sorry but its July 4th so wait for 1 more day. I didn't get my score until the 5th day at 5:00pm and the reason was because they found out they had issue with their pc... Also I called TWU today to see if they need any other things from me, they said ATI never sent them my score!!! -__-' so I was calling back and forth It was such a hassle. You got one week so call them as many times as you can to make sure they do have your stuffs. Just a heads up for everyone, I had horrible experience with them.

@sahkar

I'm at collin too! I think they get the test scores pretty quickly from what I understand. A couple days maybe? Not totally sure though. And no, you don't have to do it all at once. Make you sure you've applied to get in to TWU if you haven't already. You can fill out the nursing app after that through pioneer portal. It's really short. Then just send all your transcripts as they are ready. Are you applying to Dallas campus?

Hello everyone!

I am applying for the 2014 term & this are my stats:

Nursing Prereqs: 3.54

Science Prereqs: 3.81

First attempt A's in Micro, A & P 2, & Stats

Teas V 82%

I felt like I could have done wayyyy better on my teas v but I was stressing out way to much prior to the test. I ran out of time on the reading and math portion which made me even more nervous. It was a terrible night. But anyways I talked to the counselor for the nursing and she said an 82 was still good. So hopefully my stats are good enough.

For anyone taking the Teas V soon, chill! Do not over think it & in the math & reading do not linger on one problem for too long! Other wise those 50 minutes you have counting down on you will turn into 5 minutes real quick.

Good luck to all of you!

How does the teas exam format work exactly? Like, can you use more of the time on one section than another, or is there a set time for each section? Also, can you choose the order you take each topic or is that set as well?
