TWU Spring 2014 Applicants

Nursing Students School Programs

Hey everyone. I just wanted to start a thread for all of those hoping to get into TWU starting Spring 2014. My name is Kia and I have already sent in my application and completed my TEAS V exam. I'll be in the Denton campus patho class this fall (trying to wait patiently for an acceptance letter-GOD willing).

How does the teas exam format work exactly? Like, can you use more of the time on one section than another, or is there a set time for each section? Also, can you choose the order you take each topic or is that set as well?

No you can't, once your time is up for that section, they will automatically move you to the next. There is a set time for each section. You can't choose the order, it's English, Math, Science, Grammar. I wanted to skip a few questions but didn't want to mess with the system cuz I never used it, if you find out how to skip questions, do that and do the ones you know first and go back to it later.

I'm taking micro at Collin, what about you? Yeah, I hope it's not too late I have just been studying here and there since with micro it's a little hard that's why I wanted a week after the class is over to study for it. Do you think it takes them a week or so to get the test scores? And do all the things need to be turned in at the same time...the transcripts and the application?

The transcripts took a day, HCC and UH are both good at it. It's just the TEAS you have to worry about. I applied to Applytexas last week and got the accepted status this week. They are very good at it. I am not too sure about Collin though. Wait sorry Collin is HCC lol

Do the TEAS scores take a while? I sent mine directly to TWU but I don't know how to check to see if they got it?

I mailed my transcripts & that took about 1 week to be updated.

Hello everyone!

I am applying for the 2014 term & this are my stats:

Nursing Prereqs: 3.54

Science Prereqs: 3.81

First attempt A's in Micro, A & P 2, & Stats

Teas V 82%

I felt like I could have done wayyyy better on my teas v but I was stressing out way to much prior to the test. I ran out of time on the reading and math portion which made me even more nervous. It was a terrible night. But anyways I talked to the counselor for the nursing and she said an 82 was still good. So hopefully my stats are good enough.

For anyone taking the Teas V soon, chill! Do not over think it & in the math & reading do not linger on one problem for too long! Other wise those 50 minutes you have counting down on you will turn into 5 minutes real quick.

Good luck to all of you!

So did you guess on those qns? Would you recommend that if one isn't sure of the answers or does it count against ya?

Laura is correct, no calculators lol and some multiplications are pain in the butt. Its not like 23X23, its more like 234X243 so it takes alot of time and you gota be really accurate. Yea I think your dates are okay, its just very tight but it works as long as its before Sept 1. BUT beware with ATI, their system is always down!!! When I took the test on Sept 1st, they said we will have score up by 42 hrs then they changed to 72 hrs, and on the third day, they were like sorry but its July 4th so wait for 1 more day. I didn't get my score until the 5th day at 5:00pm and the reason was because they found out they had issue with their pc... Also I called TWU today to see if they need any other things from me, they said ATI never sent them my score!!! -__-' so I was calling back and forth It was such a hassle. You got one week so call them as many times as you can to make sure they do have your stuffs. Just a heads up for everyone, I had horrible experience with them.

I'm sorry to hear that! That makes me more nervous I hope all goes well with you! Thank you for the advice ill make sure and call them once I'm with it!

@sahkar

I'm at collin too! I think they get the test scores pretty quickly from what I understand. A couple days maybe? Not totally sure though. And no, you don't have to do it all at once. Make you sure you've applied to get in to TWU if you haven't already. You can fill out the nursing app after that through pioneer portal. It's really short. Then just send all your transcripts as they are ready. Are you applying to Dallas campus?

Yeah my last semester at Preston ridge campus can't wait! I have applied and gotten in TWU. I just hope they have the transcripts updated soon after aug 15 for us to turn it in.

I think we should be okay, because I think as long as it's postmarked before the deadline (sep 1) they'll accept it.

Yeah, sorry for asking a lot of questions!

You still have a perfect GPA & 4/4 have to count for something! Plus you have a bachelors, I'm sure all of that will outweigh your score. no worries:)

No, by the time I realized the timer I was just tryna answer the one I had left. I should have just guessed. If your wrong or have no answer on the question it will count against you. Make an educated guess if your not sure because its better to have a 25% chance than a 0% chance. Good Luck!
