Hello!

Are you applying this summer to LSU Traditional BSN-Spring 2019? If so, I hope this thread serves you as a fountain of information during this application period. I am sure many of you, like myself, are very excited and anxious for what's to come in the upcoming weeks/months, yet with so many questions to be answered. Please, if you have a concern or have something you might want to share about the application process or HESI, make yourself at home and don't be shy to share! I guarantee you there will always be more than one or two that will either have the same question or answer as you do. Good luck on the process, and I hope we all get accepted and start attending LSU SON Spring 2019! Geaux Tigers!

If you have not attended one of the informational sessions, I recommend you do so. Todd Tartavoulle, the director, is very helpful and open to answer all questions. If you would like a tour of the school,request via email for one. They will more than likely accommodate a group tour after the meeting.

Is anyone taking the HESI within the next month or so? I am planning on taking it mid-late May.

Hello, I'm planning on applying for LSU's BSN Spring 2019 Class as well. I just took the HESI exam yesterday an made an 84 so i'm super psyched about that because I really thought that I'd fail my first try. I can't apply until the end of June though. I haven't taken psychology yet so I'll be taking it this summer from May-June then I'll begin the application process. I wish everyone the best of luck !

That's awesome! As per NursingCAS, it is recommended we submit the application a month prior to the deadline. The great part about the application being online is that you can work on it at your own pace, meaning that you don't have to fill out everything all at once. You can sign in fill out sections of it, save it, and come back to it and continue at a later time. Are you planning on retaking the HESI again or are you okay applying with an 84%. How was the chemistry section on the HESI? I am looking into taking the HESI mid-May. Psychology is not that bad, you'll do fine.

Hello!! I will be applying! I was actually go to apply last go-round but crap happens, and we JUST moved to LA.

I am actually applying to both LSU and Delgado. That being said, I have a question concerning the HESI, maybe you guys can help? Both schools require the HESI but both schools have different (and a majority of the same) subjects tested. Are you guys applying to additional schools? Where did you take the HESI? I registered yesterday at DCC for May 24.

I'm only applying to LSU. I recommend signing up for an informational session; I believe they have one session coming up soon. I know someone that recently took the HESI for another school, which did not include Chem, and was told she had to retake it for LSU. If you can't make it to the info session, I would at least email Dr. Tartavoulle (director of the traditional bsn) and ask him personally about it. He is really good at replying back and very helpful. I looking into taking the HESI mid to late April.

Hi guys, I plan on applying as well!! I haven't taken the HESI yet but I plan to maybe late May/early June. I'm not completely done with my prereqs yet. I'm taking college algebra and psych this summer. Have any of you heard anything about Nicholls's BSN program? I've been considering applying there as well.

Do's

1. whatever you have to submit, submit ASAP

2. Make sure you entered all the courses correctly in NursingCAS

3. You have at least a B in your sciences, even microbiology. If you get accepted then fail microbiology afterwards they will decline you

4. go to information sessions

5. Practice your interview questions before using your first attempt

6. Worry more about the structure, grammar, and quality of your essay than the actual content. They want to see if you can write and stay on topic with the question, not what your answer is. for example, don't try to create this out of the world essay about how you saved this guy from a burning building. If you did, great, but let your writing skills carry the essay not the story.

Don't

1. Start on the hardest part of the HESI first. Do the easiest parts for yourself first so you can leave the rest of your time for the hardest parts

2. Forget to check your email daily after submitting your application.

3. Do the interview at the last minute

4. Show up to the essay late. the tour is first so if you're late then you'll miss the tour which means you will be extra late to the essay

For those of you who have recently taken the Hesi, how much time were you given to complete the entire exam?

4 hours. Most people finish much earlier than that. Took me a little less than 3 hours

chem material?
