LSU Spring 2019 BSN

Published

Hello!

Are you applying this summer to LSU Traditional BSN-Spring 2019? If so, I hope this thread serves you as a fountain of information during this application period. I am sure many of you, like myself, are very excited and anxious for what's to come in the upcoming weeks/months, yet with so many questions to be answered. Please, if you have a concern or have something you might want to share about the application process or HESI, make yourself at home and don't be shy to share! I guarantee you there will always be more than one or two that will either have the same question or answer as you do. Good luck on the process, and I hope we all get accepted and start attending LSU SON Spring 2019! Geaux Tigers!

The chemistry was not hard at all to me. And I never purchased the HESI review. I just studied multiple HESI quizlets for a few weeks before testing.

I downloaded the HESI app which helped A LOT. I just took the HESI last week and got a 91% (thank you Baby Jesus). I got a 84% in the chemistry section though, the questions threw me off because they weren't really what I spent time studying. Just be comfortable with the charge amount of the elements of the first 2 and last 2 groups on the periodic table, as well with the proper name of ammonia (I got stumped on the proper name). Working on the nursing CAS now, how is everyone else doing?

Oh and I found out I needed to take 2 different versions of the HESI for both schools. Did LSU's test first, and will take Delgado's next month. Oh and we were in town during Christmas, so I went to the informational session at the end of December. Super psyched people!

Hi! Congrats on such a high score!! All is well with me. I'm prepping to take the hesi within the next four weeks. I wanted to give myself some time to be able to retake it if need be but life happened lol. Did you take lsu's hesi on campus? Also, are there any other sections on LSU's hesi besides English, biology, math, and chemistry?

You take a learning and personality test, but they aren't graded. Though there is a section in which you get tested and given points to how you answer questions related to the nursing field. All the answers are correct, but there is always a better answer, which gives you a higher score. It isnt anything to study for. Just remember patient safety for most of the questions.

I skipped the learning and personality sections because I didn't think they were required, and I only completed the critical thinking section. I verified with LSU, they said that aside from math/english/science subjects they only require critical thinking. The test itself is really not that bad. I made an 88% overall.

The HESI is taken at a testing center not at LSU. It takes couple days to get your appointment scheduled; I would suggest signing-up on Elsevier ASAP. Prometric will then send you an email 1-2 days after requesting an appointment on Elsevier. Test dates should now be available for the month of June. This link has all the instructions to scheduling your test. Good luck! https://nursing.lsuhsc.edu/Docs/Louisiana%20State%20University%20HSC%20Distance%20Testing%20Instructions.pdf

Hi guys, I've recently decided to apply to LSU's nursing school and I have all required courses except chemistry, which I am taking this summer semester. Really worried my transcript will not be submitted soon enough to be eligible for admission. I was told they give two weeks past August 1st so hopefully that will be long enough. Im attending the june info session so hopefully ill get my questions answered there.Previously took the HESI and got an 86 but ill have to retake since chemistry wasnt on that one. Hoping for a better score! GOODLUCK TO YOU ALL !

Hi! Two questions! I recently took the HESI and got an 84 and I have a 3.6 gpa I was wondering if I should take the hesi again or do y'all think it'll be okay? Also I have a friend who took micro and didn't get the B so they have to take yet again but the other grade is already on his transcript so if he gets the B the second time will they ignore the lower grade? Or can you leave that one out?

They will take the highest grade. Just make sure he makes a note on the application that the course will be taken during the summer or fall.

I do know that for the past few cohorts the avg HESI score has been 86-88%. But again that is the avg and it does not mean applicants with lower scores don't get accepted. The average can vary from cohort to cohort. Check previous threads, sometimes they post their numbers once accepted. Past applicants have recommended to do very well on both the essay and interview questions. Just because one has outstanding GPA/HESI scores does not guarantee one will be accepted. Good luck!

Hi everyone! Just took the Hesi and made an 89.67%. Does anyone know if they round the the hesi scores up?My goal was a 90 or higher, so close..haha

I took the HESI today and it WAY easier than I thought it would be. I got a 95!!

Hey, it's been a minute since anyone posted on tbis thread, how's everyone been ? Have you all began your application process and taken the HESI ? I just recently submitted my application and payments, I'm just waiting on one transcript to be sent off.
