What Color Are Your Scrubs? - page 2

I just thought I throw a silly question out there to all you hard- working nursing students. I go to Metro Tech in OKC, our scrubs are khaki. Yes, I said KHAKI. I didn't know that there was a such... Read More

The colors I inherited from a previous job where we even had certain colors for certain days. Funny, but I rather like the khaki, just not too wild about teal.
    Hey Agatha,

I trade you the opportunity to wear khaki scrubs if I can wear teal! I guess it depends on the teal, I have reddish/auburn hair with green eyes and I've always loved the way that teal looks on me. Personally, khaki makes my skin look too washed out. Fortunately, at this time I don't have to wear the khaki, I just wear a yellow isolation gown over my navy blue scrubs. It's hot, but usually I'm not working there to long and I can always pull up my sleeves.

Only one colour available in Oz..baby blue.
Not so - I wore green scrubs in hyperbaric unit and royal blue or green in ICU.

I don't necessarily think that khaki is bad. I just wouldn't want to be forced to wear it as my uniform. Last year I was trying to find some scrubs when I was doing phlebotomy and tried on a khaki set. I couldn't decide if I was dressed for a safari or headed into the medical field! Khaki just isn't a nice color on me - makes me look even more pale than I already am! If you like it, then stick with it baby!
I agree with you, Lana. It's not a bad color, as long as I don't have to wear it close to my face. And you are absolutely right, it looks like one is going on a safari if you wear it. If I could legally pair it up and wear a top that goes with it, that would be OK, but as I said, I look too washed out in it.

And "smurf tones" is a good description for royal blue. That cracked me up. Royal blue is not a bad color at all. I wear navy all the time, but it's hard to hide the dog fur in it; he wants a "hug" before I leave, and this is the time of year in which he's shedding his coat. Ack. I love my doggie, but yellow lab fur (he's a husky/lab mix), navy blue scrubs, plus shedding doggie doesn't not exactly work well. One day I'll get a picture of him in my avatar if I can get a cute close up, so people can actually see him!

TCC RN program- Royal blue! Not too shabby
Now, this is something to look forward to... is it a solid color or can you wear a different top? However, I betcha as a nursing program it's probably solid bottoms and tops.

I worked very briefly at one CNA job and I bought a very pretty top to go with white scrub pants. It had a few colors of blue in it, the primary being a cornflower blue, with some navy and specks of gold in iit. I'd love to get the chance to wear it again, and hopefully I will.

Navy tops /Navy pants or White tops/Navy pants. I like the combination.

I don't know why I said royal blue! I meant NAVY!! TCC's are Navy blue.
For the last 3 years I've been at TCC the nursing students have always worn navy blue.

No they have to be solid tops and bottoms with white shoes.

It's not that I think that my Khaki scrubs are ugly. I was just thinking who picked this color for us to wear. I mean I just find it to be strange.

At East Tn State we had to wear all white with white shoes our 1st round of clinicals. Then after that we could wear any color or any print. So I guess I got pretty lucky!

Royal blue and/ or white. Of course, with all white shoes!

I feel your pain!! I am entering into a Dental Hygiene program this fall, and because we have men in our class this year, the program decided that khaki was the best option for gender neutral scrubs!! I about DIED!! The class before us in the same building is Ceil Blue...now correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't a nice navy blue or something been a MUCH better gender neutral color that would also compliment the other class!! I agree with everyone who has talked about the safari feel..I would even go as far as to say we will look like army troops!!

And I know, I know, it might seem strange that I'm a Dental Hygiene student on an all nurse network, but this site roxx!! Us DHG girls and nurses share a lot of similarities believe it or not!! =] =]

LOL! Who found this old thread? Well, I no longer have my khaki scrubs. I will be moving on to a teal color for the RN program.

At Rose State we wear royal blue pants, white top, white shoes and if we want a jacket it has to be royal blue. I actually like our uniforms... Well, the white shirts aren't my first choice but overall I like the look.
