My name is Liz. I just moved back to Oklahoma, after living in Colorado for several years. I own property in little Kansas, almost to arkansas, and travel to OKC to work. I work in er and icu, and love the excitement of it all. My husband and I just celebrated our first year anniversary. He has just applied to Bacone college in Muskogee for x-ray tech. so that he can travel with me. Its good to be home.

My name is Dotti and I have posted here before and wanted to provide an update. I started my career change to RN in March, 2005. I will get my LPN in June, 2007 and my RN in May, 2008. I have accepted my first job in healthcare as a nurse tech. I went to orientation at BMC (Bailey Medical Center) the last two days and I was very pleased with what I saw. You can see how pretty it is at www.baileymedicalcenter.com. The CEO is Alfredo Ontiveros and he spent about an hour with us getting to know our names and our backgrounds and telling us about Bailey. The thing that impressed me the most was how positive he was and how he wanted us to be positive and thanked us for choosing Bailey. They did a really great job of spending 8 hours telling us about the company. My first day is today so wish me luck. I will be working on the med-surg floor. There are less than 200 people who work there and I will be happy to be back in such a small office instead of a company of 250,000. I feel blessed to have joined the Bailey family.

Hello, I'm Katie and I live in southwestern Oklahoma. I became aware of my interest, admiration, and love for the nursing field while taking care of my mom who was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer in June of 2006. I was her "nurse", as she called me, until she passed away in December.

I've decided to go the CNA to LPN to, possibly, RN route. I start the CNA program in a couple of months. I can't wait!

Hi, I transplanted from Kansas to Oklahoma last August. I live in Tahlequah and work in Pryor. I have 5 boys at home. DH helps a lot at home, with homeschool and housework. Our 3 girls are older and married. They live in Kansas. I also have grandchildren. I turned 40 while in nursing school 3 years ago.
I've thought about changing my name on here since I'm no longer a student practical nurse and I no longer live in kansas. Brian said to submit 3 choices, but I'm not sure yet.

I live in locust grove and while I am not a nurse I hope to be one.
The plan is for me to go back to school when the 3 year old gets in school full time and the hubby gets done with his school.
I am considering going the LPN route first but who knows what life will have planned by then.

Hi. My name is Ashley. I am 32 years old and I live in BA. I applied for TCC for the fall and didnt get in. Monday I applied at TTC for the LPN and I am keeping my fingers crossed, although I have heard that you are really just paying $15 app fee to get on the waiting list. I am taking the CNA this summer (which I know that is why I didnt get into TCC). I am going to the info session on Tues at TTC for the 1+1 program to see what that is all about. The letter said that there were only 16 spots but I am hoping to get in somewhere. Oh, and I just got a job @ Southcrest as a unit sec.

I am also one of the "older" girls that went back to school to complete my schooling. Went back to school at 52yo and absolutely loved it. So glad to meet all of you here!!!

Hey y'all - I've jumped into a few threads but haven't introduced myself yet...

I'm Traci. I'm 32 and live in OKC w/ my husband and our 2 dogs. I'm pursuing my BSN at OCU and love it - eventually I hope to pursue an advanced degree. I grew up in Tulsa/Broken Arrow and most of my family still lives in the area so I hope we can someday move back there!!
Hey! I have applied to OCU, and actually spoke to an advisor today who told me she would review my transcripts as soon as they get there (mailed them in today!!) She seemed pretty possitive about me getting in though...and if I do I will be moving to OKC from Tulsa with a friend doing the same thing! I was just curious how the "Science Technology" class you have to take is? I will probably be taking it this summer...also do you know of any nice apartment complexes close to campus (but not on campus housing?) Im not familiar with the area and need some help!! Thanks so much!!

Hey Jessi - I just checked this thread for the first time in a while, sorry for the delay in replying. My only suggestion for the science/technology/society class is to do whatever you possibly can to get into the summer II session with Dr. Jones - if the class is full then come up with a good reason why you must take it in 2nd session and then beg for permission to enroll. I mean, it won't be the worst thing in the world to take it 1st session, but it will make a world of difference... I'm just going to bed right now (last clinical tomorrow!! must be there bright and early at 6:30!!), but I will follow up with you tomorrow and explain better.
