Nursing 4600 Excellence Spring Session 2

Nursing Students Ohio University

The syllabus for this class was emailed yesterday. Most non-clinical assignments are DB items. Clinical looks fairly straightforward that culminates in a research paper. These are not clinicals in the classical sense of the word. Each week you are asked to submit a small assignment such as topic of choice (from several choices), outline, plan and final paper.

Looks like they paired down previous assignments for this class to accommodate the 'clinical' component. No quizzes. Only one book required and it is an easy read.

Specializes in Psych/AOD.

How's everyone doing in this class? You are almost done!

Doing fine. Week 5 you have a paper due with an abstract and one discussion board.

There are no tests in this class. Most weeks one discussion board and then filling in template for project with references...culminating in one large paper week 5. Week 4 you do 2 discussion boards...one outlining your project.

Good luck to all of you starting this class soon. I know you can handle it without a problem.

Thanks EmJean, your info the past several weeks about this class has decreased my anxiety about it. Can't wait to be done!!!

Specializes in ICU.

I can't tell you how happy I am to see this discussion! I'm getting ready to start this class, and have recieved all the emails and first assignment (where you fill in your topic/goals/etc). I've read this stuff a million times and do not understand what they want. Can anyone that has taken the class provide some topic examples? I'll think of my own of course but, I just don't have a clue of what they want! I did look at the QSEN site and that did not help me understand. Wish I had examples to direct me. I would like to do something that involves end of life care in some way. Just not sure how to apply the topic to the project.

I'll be taking this class starting next week too. I have also read over the info we've been sent and checked out QSEN issues. I'm not entirely sure how to apply the topic to the project either.

Wow!! You have just made my night!! I have just been sitting here getting more and more anxious reading over the syllibus!! I am feeling better and better!! This is the last class and I would hate to screw things up now!! I guess I was just gettting a little overwhelmed and just wanting to be DONE!!!!

Good, bad or ugly, I am done with this class. There were very generic instructions on how to proceed with this project. The final paper was over 9 pages long and I could have made it much longer.

My TA was not picky over APA, but actually read content. I felt overall the grading was fair. Right now I am just grateful to be done with the Indirect Clinical Project. I am not able to advise anyone here on specifics since I had to wing it myself.

I wish you all the best.

To those taking this course starting 3/25, the class is showing up on Blackboard now. The specifics aren't as clear as I would like, which seems to be normal OU RN class protocol. Looks like we will be winging it, just as EmJean said.

Glad you are done EmJean, and thanks again for the info you shared with us here.

I saw that too, Modgoth. I was very pleasantly surprised (I rarely seen my courses come up early like that).

And yes, thank you EmJean!!!

Try to follow the Rubrics. They are generic as well but my TA followed them quite closely... another tool in your orificenal to use.

Explore the QSEN.net website look under KSA for graduates that will be where you find your topics.

I am looking at the QSEN.org web site. I do not see anything that says KSA.

I found the KSA under the competenciestab.
