Any Nursing Students for Spring 2014 for Tric?? Cuyahoga Community College

U.S.A. Ohio

Just wanted to see if their was anyone who would be starting the same time I will be. Good luck to everyone!

You can probably get by with the previous edition. However, none of the faculty will support the previous edition by giving you the chapters and page numbers to read; you'll have to figure that out yourself. One thing you may want to consider, though, is that by the time a textbook gets published, the material is already about 4 years old. One of the faculty wrote a textbook that came out this fall. The last time she touched that book was 2+ years ago and that was to proofread it only. She hasn't written a word in 4 years. In a world where evidence-based practice is important, I'm not sure I'd want the old material in a previous edition, which could be 7-10 years old. Some things obviously never change, but research does change practice. Just my thoughts...

I would not advise going to tri c. They lost there accreditation. Its not a very reputable program in ohio. Try transferring to kent state or akron.

I agree on that absolutely. However, due to financial reasons, buying old edition will save me a lot, and I mean a lot of money, the money I unfortunately don't have. Ideally, I would buy all the books new and current. I'm buying new pharmacology and drug reference though, as I believe that's important. I was asking if let's say some of the books, like Fundamentals, can be used old? Thank you AssociateDegree for your input.

Here we go again...sighhh. I would advise you to validate your facts first and not from the Plain Dealer and hearsay, or "my professor who teaches chem, bio whatever says so." Go on accrediting websites - state BON and ACEN and read the related documentation - it's there. I like the program, it's old and very well respected and recognised. Clinical locations are excellent! Graduates are employed! In addition, it's a very affordable, also the key, at least for me!

Specializes in ICU.

I agree. That person really should validate the facts first before blurting out lies. Tri-C is accredited and they have a very strong reputation of being one the best nursing programs in the area.

Get your facts straight before trying to discourage others.

I purchased new and old books and they still cost me like 760... :0/ I'm going to be paying my credit card off for a while lol.

Lol. I have already started saving my pennies for books.

Yes, those books are expensive! I am slowly buying them here and there, just trying to find the cheapest possible. Does anyone know when the nursing department is going to post Spring syllabus? They promised to do it way back in mid November, still nothing the last time I've checked ;(

The nursing program is in the process of reviewing all syllabi to make sure they follow a standard format (something done frequently) and will post them once that's been completed. Spring syllabi are never ready in November, so I don't know why you were told that. I guess someone was just being optimistic! :-)

In the meantime, if you have a specific question about your course, call the nursing office and ask for the course coordinator's contact information, then email them directly.

Ok, thank you for the information, I was just wondering. I wasn't told just by somebody, I am talking about syllabus. It was mentioned in the letter about orientation, and at the orientation. Of course, they have never said for sure.

I went to tri-c metro campus and western campus when i left high school and for the most part it was a great experience! I wish you much success and the eastern campus is amazing! You'll enjoy the teachers(no i didn't attend but i have visited and had a work study there)

Days at metro campus starting this spring. Anyone else?
