What's the weirdest baby name?

Specialties Ob/Gyn Nursing Q/A

Hi, I was wondering about some of those weird names that you've probably encountered in L&D and PP. I remember when I had my maternity rotation a couple of weeks ago, one of the nurses said she remembers a patient that named her child Placenta. I couldn't believe it that some child has to live his life named after disgusting afterbirth!

Had a pt. with a room full of family ask me how to spell a word that she heard during her office visit. They couldn't figure out how to spell "Chlamydia". Pt. said that it was the prettiest word she's ever heard. And she wanted to name her baby that. She knew it was a girl baby. With all the family in there and how people are funny about confidentiality, I didn't have the heart to tell her that it was a STD. There was literally more than 10 people in her room and around her bed. I told her that I'd write it down and tell her later. But then the resident walked in to examine her so that we could start her induction. She asked him. (And no one had left the room either for the exam. She didn't have any modesty and they didn't have any respect to leave. Even after I asked them too.) And he stood there and spelled it out. Not even wondering why in the heck the family member is writing it down. When we left the room, I pulled him aside and told him why they wanted it spelled. He was floored! He went back in and told them (with no confidentiality in mind) that they absolutely couldn't name the baby after a STD. Well, at least I didn't breach any rules there. LOL.

I just saw a "Sandy Beaver" in the paper, luckily for her it was in the engagement listings, so she won't have that name too much longer, at least I'm assuming :D

ok...have a former friend who named one of her offspring Autumn Rain...had a b/f with a cousin Prarie....had a teacher named Miss Fuchs....(we mispronounced it alot..)and knew a little bitty old lady named Roxie Britton...doesn't that sound like she should have tassles and a g-string??? oh..and knew a couple...unmarried goldcard couple...who chose to name their daughter Dallas Pistol..forget whose last name was used..

HAHA,

OT

This is just too hilarious for me. Obviously I need more sleep.

Went to school with a girl named Sandy Shores.

saw an obituary yesterday for a woman named LaVodka

I always say that if the name would sound like it belongs on a soap opera or a daytime talk show, it's not a good name.

P.S.

There are a people of Mennonite descent where I live. There are also quite a few people named. Peter Dyck (pronounced dick).

I used to know a guy whose name was Epiphany. We called him Pif for short.

Twin girls were named "Melody" and "Lyric" because their parents loved music. I think the names are cute if unusual.

I worked in peds for 5 years and saw all of these:

Ocean-for a boy

Aja- sounds like Asia

Nimrodd-yes as in you nimrodd

Shithead- sounds like SHA-tied, I had to ask how to say the name cause no one else would!

Dick- NOT Richard, last name.... Long, chart name Long, Dick

Erin, Erron, Eucial- triplets

Erin, Enid- not bad you say? Last name Clair. Dad wanted "all little eclairs"

Pepsee and Kohla- twins pronounced as Pepsi Cola

Some times ya just gotta wonder about drugs at delivery. ;)

Approx. four years ago when i was working at a pediatric clinic we had a child named "Thelastone" pronounced "thu-lest-oney"
