What nursing shoes do your recommend?

Nurses Uniform/Gear

Published

i'm a new grad starting an operating room internship next week. i really want to protect my feet/legs and invest in a good pair of shoes since i'm going to be on my feet for well pretty much my whole shift.

i dont have any restrictions on what i can/cannot wear so i'm open to all suggestions. i've been looking into possible the nursing birkis - does anyone have them and if so are they as comfortable as they appear to be?

thanks!

ps: ignore my typo in the title! i already submitted it and can't edit it!

I either wear crocs or danskos. I'd also wear some kind of support stockings. when i'm on my feet a lot, i can tell the difference. my ankles don't get quite so swollen.

I loved Cobbie Cuddlers when i was an aide, running up and down the halls. They're affordable and so comfortable. But they weren't good for me in the OR, since i stand for long periods of time in one place.

What are croc shoes??

who makes them? ...

they must be American shoes Hey?

I used to wear Diane Ferrarie (something like that) lol heaps comfy

But now I wear Colorado shoes ther'e good too longer wearing

What are croc shoes??

They're plastic clogs. I can't wear them - too little support.

hmm ok well I doubt I'd be able to wear them then ....rub too much

so if they are clogs then we wouldn't be allowed to wear them here anyway

All shoes have to be proper closed shoes no flip flops clogs etc

has to be lace ups or or buckles ok in some places .....WH&S

Z-coils all the way baby!! I wear mine all the time, work or not. I have flat feet and between the customization of the orthotic and some added arch support my feet are doing very well. In fact, they've never been better, even when I was wearing custom orthotic inserts. The Z's are expensive, 215 after tax but I have to say they're worth every penny and more. My custom orthotics were about the same price and didn't do as well for my feet even when put in very good shoes.

As for skechers, they just don't fit my feet right but for some they are great. With my feet problems, Crocs are a crock. There are a couple of folks who had been wearing them and began having problems and visited an podiatrist who told them their problems were related to the shoes they were wearing. They've since gotten better shoes and the problems have disappeared. I've not paid attention to what shoes they are wearing now though.

Prior to getting Z's, I found that New Balance and Avia made shoes that worked very well for me, in combination with my custom orthotics.

i wear birkenstocks!! i love them, they mold to your feet after a few weeks, and then it's like someone made them just for you, can't live without them!!!

I love Merrells. They are great if you have a high arch.

Crocs baby! And don't fall for the knock-offs!

I love my Crocs! They are inexpensive and comfortable! But, I agree with the above post...don't get the knock-offs!

Crocs all the way, forgot mine one day and had to wear my walking shoes talk about aching legs. cant wear the closed ones way too hot but good for wet and cold days. one place i wk at wont allow clogs so we found crocs that look like the ll bean winter shoes with leather around the ankles. used to wear new balance but they changed the style again and not as comfortable.

nofeargear.com or crocs.com and read how to size crocs which is important.

I have tried the Crocs, but they are too flat for my high arch and kill my feet.
