Scrubs that won't make me look like a blimp...

  1. 0 Hello all...sorry if this question has been posted before! I am 5'3, thin, and curvy. I'm an hourglass with a bubble butt, size 5. Not complaining mind you, but it feels like every set of scrubs I buy drapes over my chest and butt, making me look like a bloated pregnant tent.

Now, I'm not trying to be a sexpot at work (and clinicals soon), but I don't feel that I should have to look like I gained 15 lbs every time I slip on my uniform.

I just hate all of that extra hanging material.

Does anyone have any links for scrubs that are more form fitted and geared to someone with my body type? Ideally in CANADA? A U.S. site will do though if they have what I want.

    Thanks!

Have you tried dickies? I'm 5'2'' and thin, although not all that curvy, and of all the tops I've tried on dickies tops seem to look the least like potato sacks on me. I also have a pair of Koi Lindsey pants that are awesome, although $$$.
I also tried on an iguanamed top that fit nicely, and I've heard other people recommend urbane for smaller women.

I have not yet tried any of the brands you mentioned...I hope I can get them in Canada! I might have to order them online. Thank you so much for the ideas, they should really help.

Hey darlin!! I am the opposite of you lol. I am very tall 5"8' and thin(128 pounds) and the BEST scrubs I have found so far are Urbane scrubs. They fit the most complimentary to specific body types. I would also suggest getting snap down tops because they fit a little tighter and better. They do for me but then again I am very tall!! I hope this helped a little bit...

I have the same body type....I tried a pair of the dickies everyday flare pants, but where I went they only had size medium in the tops. Which dickies tops do you wear?

For school, we have to have the plain one pocket style. Dickies seems to make two styles of those, and both fit me in xs without looking like a sack. However, they are still pretty boxy, but that is to be expected. I'm sure the more feminine styles would fit better

I agree on the Dickies. I am only 5'2" and most scrubs are way too long on me. The Dickies are shorter and nip in a little at the waist. I also just got some Baby Phat tops that fit in a similiar way, plus they are in some very pretty colors. The Grey's Anatomy are popular with my co-workers-but they fit a little too slim for me.
    Hope this helps!

I am 5 foot 6 and 165 pounds. Nothing fits very good. I love wearing loose fitting outfits and find it sorta odd that so many nurses here want tight body fitting attire.

I suppose it is the odd little things that reveal who we really are inside.

A little disgusted at both the garmet industry and collegue nurses too.

Gimme my size xl and don't put little bunnies on it!

Pudgy and sexy as hell without tight fitting stuff on me!

I find that tops that have the gathered back (either elastic or tie) are less sack-y. Plus I can adjust for all the stuff in my pockets.

I had the same problem. I am 4'11. I wear a size 2 in pants but I have double D's... (lol) I found that Dickies Black label line fits best. Greys Anatomy aren't too bad either.

Maybe you could consider having the boxy, less expensive scrubs altered if you can find a good local tailor. I have a very different body type than yours, but I have found that a well tailored outfit makes a world of difference, whether you are talking about suits or scrubs. And you might be surprised how inexpensive it is compared to the pricey designer scrubs. Especially if you have to order online and don't even get to try on certain styles before you buy. Good luck!

As a "fat old lady" who also happens to be very curvy, I can understand where the OP is coming from. I don't wear my scrubs "tight" (might scare the natives) but I want them to fit. Nothing makes a big girl look bigger than huge "tater sack like scrubs" My best advice is to NEVER buy unisex, you won't be happy. The tops that have a faux criss cross in the front (v-neck), tie back, or have elastic in the back (about mid back) work best for me, because they are made to fit a woman. Since I am in a small town I usually buy my scrubs at Walmart. The pants with elastic in the back, drawstring waist work best for me, cause they don't make the belly stick out like all elastic, or bunch in the back and cut too tight on the thighs like the straight drawstring. Now everyone play nice, wear what makes you feel comfortable!

I'm kinda small but with big boobs and I have the same problem where I look like a circus tent in most tops. Tops that tie in the back just seem to fit even more awkwardly than those with straight cuts. They make me look like a rectangle?

If I were you I would look at Barco scrubs. Their Grey's Anatomy line mock-wrap tops tend to skim the body. Some of their other tops are cut the same way. And their Elan lines come in really pretty prints in a material that's thinner and more breathable, so they drape a little bit better instead of sticking out 6" away from your stomach.
