I am so excited over getting my new Dansko "jocelyn " nursing shoes. I wore them all day yesterday and my feet feel great!!! Definetly worth the price or $116!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

That's great!!!! I've been thinking about getting Dansko nursing shoes also...white sneakers are not allowed... :o . I hope they make my feet feel comfortable also...are they compatible with orthotics. I had foot surgery 6 wks. ago and my podiatrist recommended I wear New Balance sneakers with the orthotics. I wonder if my clinical instructor will allow that also....hmmm

The insoles in Danskos come right out so you should be able to put the orthotics in there too.

My feet are so sore after a 12h shift that they throb for two solid hours. I've been wearing K-Swiss generic walking shoes from the discount shoe store. Have you noticed that much of a difference with your new shoes?

Thanks for the info!

I got some Nursemates sneaker-y looking things, and if those don't work, I'll try the Dansko's.

I have lower back problems - it just aches when I'm on my feet just standing around. It's not bad if I'm moving or bending, stretching, whathaveyou. I'd be interested in what those with lower back pain feel is a good shoe. I tend to spend so little on shoes, but in truth, it really is the more expensive shoe that can make you feel better. I decided not to "cheap out" on nursing shoes. The Nursemates are comfy, but then again, I haven't been in them for 10 hours on my feet yet! :chuckle

We weren't allowed to have white sneakers either, but the Nursemates sneakers were okay. I didn't get that, since the only difference is the little blue heart on them!

They would probably allow it if you bring them a note from your doc. :)

Danskos make a really big difference! They have great support, and they "give", too. Some cushioning. I've been wearing them for the past four or five years, and I won't wear anything else for work. (Although I did walk a half marathon in my New Balance, and I swear by them for that sort of thing!) :) Danskos are worth the money, and if you're not picky about color, you can sometimes find them on sale. MJ Feet in Seattle used to sell discontinued Danskos for about $30.

In my program we allowed to wear sneakers, as long as white with no colorful logos. I bought a pair of Sketchers and love them. I noticed the heel sits up a bit higher and I find that my legs dont ache, as that is where I really feel it after a long day. I wonder if anyone has ever worn a pedometer to see just how much walking one really does.

I still swear by my Dansko's (Jette). They are just great and won't wear out, I'm sure of it. Quite a difference and definitely worth the $$$

I tend to have the same problem no matter what shoe I buy.

But I think mine is attributed to being overweight, too.

If you come up with anything, PLEASE let me know too! :chuckle

Erm..the overweight & lowerback pain...that would be me too! And again, I recommend Danskos if you can afford them.jette_white.jpg

If you have lower back pain you might need orthotics in your shoes to readjust your alignment. They helped me.
