Hello Everyone,

I'm new to the site and looking for other students that will be applying to bilingual nursing programs in Puerto Rico. I am looking at UMET & Interamerican University. I was hoping we could help each other out throughout the application process, provide each other with tips and feedback and/or any advice on applying, relocation, nclex questions, etc..

A little about me: I live in NYC and taking my pre-requisites at a local community college. I submitted my applications to both UMET and Inter. I still need to send them my transcripts and course descriptions. so far I have gotten good responses from the directors at both schools, set up appts for campus tours next month. Will keep everyone posted.

Anyone else applying for next year??

I had to take out both :( but if you have Pell grants it can help plus! Once you're there idk how long you can ask if they still have the hrsa grant. Keep calling to speed up the process. That's what I did because I was applying for the VALOR program at the VA and they needed my transcripts.

They have a master's program however I think you need your BSN first

I have my bachelor's degree already so I won't be getting any grants.

Well at least I won't feel as bad if I have to take out both, which I think

they will be giving me. And I will continue to call, I just called them today. thanks

again for all your help! Hopefully it doesn't take too long and I this will be the only semester

one other question, do you know when school starts in January

like around what date..not anything specific or anything. Also, I got

a paper with dates for this semester and it says finals are from 13-16, that lands on

a tuesday, what if you have a friday lab?

Hello, I am located in California and interested in the LVN-ADN or LVN-BSN programs in Puerto Rico. Can anyone recommend accredited schools? Any programs start end of January? Let me tell you a little about myself. I have a 2.7 GPA and several fail attempts at Anatomy class. I know I won't be able to get into a California community college so I am looking at schools outside. The only classes I have completed so far are College English, College Intro Chemistry, Political Science, Public Speaking. I am debating if I try A&P 1,2 during LVN school next year. Anywhoo, I have also taken Spanish 1,2 and high school biology if that counts towards anything.

Please anyone please share their experience and recommend an advisor to call...

I'm more interested in a LVN-ADN program and transfer my license in CA.....but if a BSN bridge program start in Jan, I may be open for it. ....Thank you!!!

No matter which program you choose, be absolutely certain to inquire about clinical hours and sites. Are students actually being sent to clinical sites at hospitals? If so, for how many hours each semester? Also, try to inquire with current students to get an accurate response. This has been a BIG issue and will present you problems when you return to the States (mainland) to work as a RN. So, find this information out ahead of time.

Hello resilientnurse, it is great to meet you! I have came across your post and you might be the right person to speak with. I am based in California and interested in the PR accelerated BSN program. Is it true that the program is 2yrs for non bachelor students? Do you know when it starts? Also, can you recommend a school advisor for me to personally speak with? I am registered to start a LVN program in California end of Jan, but open for options to see if I can rather get a BSN in two years in PR. Hope to hear from you soon. Thanks!

BTW : Do you know the cost of living and jobs available for CNA's? I have six years of extensive psych/mental health experience + phone sales experience. I do not speak any Spanish. Thanks

I know you post this was awhile ago, but I was wondering did you complete the online application or a paper application? What documents did you mail to the school to get your application processed?

Hello!

I was wondering what happens if your gpa is below 2.5?? I didn't do so well in high school back in 2007.. Only about a 2.4 and I've been to multiple colleges to take my pre-reqs for the RN program and they are a little higher than a 2.5.

Which gpa would they choose? Would they add them up? Someone wrote that they took the highest gpa of one of the colleges she had. Would that mean they would only choose my highest gpa? I don't have an associates or bachelors, I've only took courses..
