WHAT THE HECK? EC says they are mailing me the CPNE study guide on CD and/or I can download it and print it out directly. BUT IT'S 529 PAGES!!!

That's more than an entire REAM of paper! Not including the cost of ink!

Anybody have any advice??? Anybody have any extra paper? INK???

Im not there yet but I've been following other peoples advice and saving them into my favorites so when it comes time I have alot of info on what to do and not do. A fellow excelsior student said "If you do NOTHING else, print pages 411-491". Hope that helps a little!

I suggest printing it at staples, kinkos, etc. I found a coupon online for like 5cents a page if they did it in black and white. If you can find time to sit in front of the computer and read it over a few good times then don't bother printing it. Just print what you feel you need. If you read it once you will get a feel for what you will need in print vs just in the digital format. I am currently trying to format it for my tablet so I can have it all electronically with me at all times. would make studying sooo much easier.

I printed it at work... it will be benefitting to them when I pass, so I figured they wouldn't mind :-)

Haven't had much of a chance to flip through it yet though--but yeah, I think it took two reams of paper to print, LOL :-)

I am only 3 exams in but I have started to print it out the guide gradually at my local library that generously allow free printing. I figure each visit I would print 100 pages in increments of 25 pages per print order so as not to attract too much attention. Come on that's a LOT of printing....wouldn't want other members to feel like I am monopolizing the service! So I figure in 6 visits I'll have the entire thing printed for free. I don't plan to be CPNE eligible until June - July. So I should have plenty of time to start looking it over. If you do get the coupon online for staples, plan on spending approximately $27.00. I really feel like excelsior should actual prepare a binder of the study guide and send to students! Anyone in agreement?

If they did that they would charge a few hundred dollars for them to bind it. I will gladly do it myself for 50$. When I printed it the first time I think it cost about 32$ and I bought two binders a big vb one to house it all and a small one to carry around the current area of focus.

Printing it at the library sounds good. I'm going to start doing that soon. You would think EC would make a binder as a way to make more money.

For $25 I got it printed (double-sided) and it was bound for me into two separate books.

In all actuality you really only need about the last 75 pages or so of the book itself. The ones with the check off sheets.

cpne guide...aka "the carjack".....i took mine to staples and had it printed for something like 20 bucks...been a while but its better to have a hard copy rather than deal with a cd....just my opinion...

Had it printed, double-sided, three-hole punched and put it in a binder. GET IT PRINTED. You need to read it cover to cover, at least once, all the way through, every page. Every page. Really.

Thanks everybody!

I found a Staples coupon online, took it & the flash drive to Staples, had it B&W printed with 3 hole punch for about $39.00.

If I had tried to print it at home my old lil printer woulda just coughed and died:eek:

Thanks again!

P.S. Those of you who are able to print for FREE at your local library are truly BLESSED! Go give your librarian a big HUG:bowingpur

HEE HEE HEE...I'm one of the rotten ones that printed it off at work (Thank Goodness i work third shift huh?) However, I DID bring my own reams of paper! I hole punched it myself and stuck it in a 6in binder! =) I figured they sort of owed it to me at work considering that I TRAIN and ORIENTATE all the new RNs that come over to Rehab side...yet i'm still just an LPN LMBO!
