Elizabeth -- I was wondering about Pharm. It says it is "outreach video" not online. Did you do that class through U of W? It appears it must be taken through some sort of center, which I am sure does not exist in MA. Should I sign up for it elsewhere?

I am in the first semester of the program and love it. I love online formats because they work well no matter what your schedule is like. I think the instructors I have at UW are great. They respond to questions in a reasonable amount of time and are very active on the web sites we use for class discussions. There is a lot of work involved with most of my classes, but I didn't expect any less of a BSN program. The tuition is also very reasonable. I would recommend the program to anyone.

I haven't taken Pharm yet, but from what I was told from my advisor, the tuition rate is the same. Instead of taking the class online, they send you videos to watch and assignments are done by mail or fax. It is more like an independent study class.

Good to know. I haven't spoken to a real person yet but was reading the site. Glad to know they send you the videos. I just hope they have them on DVD -- we dumped our VCR 2 years ago!

How cool, this thread answered something I'd wondered about.

I had surgery in January at a Portland, OR hospital. The person who started my IVs name badge said she was a University of Wyoming student. I thought it was kind of odd she was doing clinicals so far from "home". :lol2:

This is an informative thread. I just sent my application in today. I hope to start this summer. My work will pay for most of it...so I think this is the way to go! I am glad to see so many positive things about the program being said. Thanks everyone!

Of those of you who are in this program...are all their "required electives / graduations" (Global Awareness, US & WY Constition, etc) all online as well? I don't see any of them on the summer schedules. Or do they tell you what you can take at your current school to fulfill these requirements?

Thanks!

Hi!

I found this thread through the search engine. This thread was 5 years ago, so how was UOW? i actually enrolled for the fall semester. I am not in the program yet, but I'm taking their pre req pharmacology class. I just want to know how your experience taking classes online and just how the program is in general. I am from Los Angeles, California. Hopefully you can make the time respond.

Hi everyone. I am taking Patho and Intro to higher education at Wyoming. They are a lot of self study. Intro to higher education is well organize.

Has anyone taken Pharm yet? Any tips.

What other classes are required or recommended and why?

Has anyone found good helpful places. I still need to take Stat and I don't have college math. I am terrible at math?

Thank you

Gige,

I took pharmacology last semester and it is alot of work. Keep up with the reading and notes and you will do fine. This semester I am taking Advanced Assessment N3045 and a History pre-req through correspondence,I plan to take Cultural Assessment this summer and hopefullywill be starting to work on my math credits.

Vasfar 2001,

Seen you are attending Univ of Wyoming. How do you like it so far? I was excited to see many students (BSN) enjoying the program. I work FT in Psychiatry and was wondering do you also work FT too? Is it difficult to take 2 -3 classes at the same time? How long do the classes run? How do you arrange your clinical hours or does the school have contracts with facilities in your area to chose from? I reside in California. Did they accept all or a majority of your lower division credits? Sounds like you are doing well in your classes. Keep up the good work. I look forward to your response at your convenience.

2boys1nurse,

I have had to take history, art, college algebra, statistics, and a public speaking class in addition to the BSN classes. I have been taking 1-2 classes a semester and it has been alot of work for me working part time! The semester last 15 weeks, the summer session is 12 weeks.

wanted to say hi again to everyone, I grad from u of wyo and want to say the classes were all very doable.

2boys1nurse-they have done away with the clinical hours requirement, so I think the class will be you gathering info in your community and writing a paper. They accepted nearly all of my lower division credits without issue (my one problem was with an AP class I passed in high school-they didn't accept it so had to take the class).

good luck
