A new allnurse friend was telling me about a new package that EC has.I called the admissions office today and to get details and it's called the ADN PACKAGE. The cost is $1560 per yr. Its designed for EC students that want to complete the EC program in less than 1 yr.

It goes in Effect July 1, 2009 and includes:

Enrollment fee

Graduation fee

4 nursing exams(unlimited)

4 practice test

All this for $1560 a yr. The CPNE is NOT included.(Additional $1950)

You do have to pay an additional $40 a month while waiting for the CPNE.

Now here is where I got a little confused. I asked them what about the other 4 nursing test. He told me that they were included also if you could finish them within the year. If you don't, Then you have to pay an additional $1560 for the second yr.

They said this Package was only for very motivated people who could finish the EC program in 1 yr. They wanted to make it affordable for them.

I think its great! So if you are gunho about EC this is definetly something to look into. I sure wish they had this when I was doing it. I completed the whole program in 1 yr and my friend completed it in 10 months.

I asked them could I get a refund. They said "No, I am sure you will make the tution up with your wonderful new career as a RN." I chuckled but a part of me was very envious of this great deal.

WOW...sounds like a great deal. I wonder why they are doing this?

It definitely would be a motivator to get someone moving!!

So they told you that the other four exams are also included if you finish the program because when I call I was told that with the package price you get to take four practice exam and four actual exam and for other four exams I would have to pay which is @240 each. I will call again and see what they say.

Smiley, thanks for clearing that up because I had a feeling that just didn't sound right. I could tell the guy was not 100% clear because I kept asking him what about the other 4 exams and I guess he just made it up because it sure didn't sound right. I kept telling him that I don't think you understand what I am asking you. Either way its till a pretty good deal.

Holy cow ... the enrollment fee alone is $895, and the grad fee is $495, so a total of $1390 anyway. That sounds like a good deal! Of course, it doesn't include any non-nursing courses or Information Literacy, I assume. I'm guessing it also does NOT include the other four nursing exams or the FCCA. But still, it sounds like a savings!

Supply and demand (can you tell I've finished economics now? LOL), probably ... I'm guessing they're making the prices more attractive to boost enrollment. Lower prices = increased demand. Enrollment might be down, with all the recent EC-vs.-Various BONs flap.

All of the nursing exams are included, BUT you can only be registered for UP TO 4 at any given time.

OMG - this is like the best thing ever - you can even do a payment plan & retake exams if necessary (hopefully not - just saying though)

Well, isnt that nice! Too bad I didnt hold out for 4 months...Sheesh! Well, here it is--if you dont feel like clicking on the link and all--

"If time and educational preparedness allow you to move quickly through the program and you can complete the eight nursing theory examinations and the Focused Clinical Competencies Assessment (FCCA) in 2 ½ years or less, this option may be for you. You pay a yearly fee that covers initial enrollment, nursing theory exam registrations, nursing practice exams, the FCCA, Student Service Annual Fee, and the graduation fee. This option is only open to new students who are first time enrollees at the College or students who have been withdrawn for longer than 1 year and who are required to re-enroll*.

Costs, which are subject to change, not included in this option are:

  • Tuition for Excelsior College Courses
  • Non-nursing Excelsior College exams
  • CPNE
  • Workshops, online conferences, textbooks, and supplies
  • Other fees not explicitly included in this description

* Enrolled Associate Degree nursing students (prior to July 1, 2009) cannot transfer from the existing Standard Pricing Option to the Packaged Pricing Option. Students, who are withdrawn from the College more than 1 year from their time of application, will be allowed to participate in this pricing option. "
