  6. Hi, I live near by the airport. I will not do the preceptorship but will work out of state. I am getting my license from Tennessee. I will work in Tennessee or might work in another state where ever I get a job. Since Tennessee is a compact state, with Tennesse license I can work in any other compact state without endorsing my license to that particular state. I can work with my Tennessee license as long as that state that i am working is compact. There are about 23 compact states. So let see where I end up working after I pass my NCLEX. I have a friend who will be doing preceptorship in Atlanta, she is an LPN and she will have to do 350 hours. Also if you don't know, excelsior has hired a lawyer to help gerogia students get license in the state. They will help Georiga student with reducing the preceptorship hours. But in order to go through the lawyer you will have to apply to Georgia board of nursing and after the board of nursing makes decision on your case then the lawyere will be able to help you reduce the hours. I don't know how long this process will take but my friend will be going through excelsior lawyer to see if her hours gets reduced. Why are you moving to Georgia since they have problem with excelsior?
  7. yes, i did, I just graduated from Excelsior nursing program in January and I will be taking my NCLEX next month. When I spoke to the lady at Georgia Board of Nursing, she told me If I work out of state for about a year or 1,000 RN hours, and come back to Georgia than I will be able to endorese my license. They will not count your hours from Bachelor's degree because if you did not graduated from the program they will not count those hours. I also have a clinical hours from Bachelor's degree which I did not graduate and they told me that they will not accept those hours as preceptorship since i did not complete the program. you can try to call and see whe they tell you. This is what they told me recently. If you have a hospital expreience they will not make you do the preceptorship. Hope things work out for you and do let me know what they tell you regarding the bachelor's degree clinical hours.
  8. hi, if you wokr as an RN in New York and if you have 1,000 hours of working as an RN then you should be fine. They will endorese your license otherwise they will make you do preceptorship
  9. Hi, I am really sorry that you didn't pass the first time but I am sure this time you will pass. Don't worry and be positive. I will be taking mine exam soon, I haven't got the ATT yet but I have started studying. What do you mean by you got 30 SATA questions. What does SATA means? Again, I am sure you did good. I have heard from so many that they felt they didn't do good but at the end they passed. Just be positive.
  10. Hi, everyone Please help support SB 187. It will help all those Excelsior college nursing students in Georgia. I am copy pasting the letter that I received from Excelsior. Dear Georgia Graduate: We write to ask for your help in contacting members of the Georgia General Assembly regarding legislation that will help provide relief from the unnecessary restrictions placed on the ability of Excelsior College graduates to be licensed as an RN in the state. Senate Bill 187 (SB 187) has been introduced that is designed to provide for a more rational approach to the current requirement that Excelsior students must complete a significant preceptorship after graduation, before they can receive a permanent nursing license in Georgia. If passed by the General Assembly, SB 187 will expand the definition of a health care facility and will provide for a more logical path to RN licensure that acknowledges your professional health care experience. The bill also reduces or eliminates the preceptorship requirement depending upon the healthcare background of our students and graduates. And, if a preceptorship is necessary, there will be many more facilities statewide in which this can take place. If you believe in a more rational approach to becoming an RN in Georgia, this is what you can do to help. Below are the email addresses of the members of the Senate Higher Education Committee. Please send each of them an email telling them that you support SB 187 and that you want them to support it as well. So you can see it, here is a link to the bill itself: The email should be in your own words and tell the legislators your story: why you wanted to become an RN and how important it was to you and your family, why you chose Excelsior College to earn your degree, and how your previous clinical experiences helped you to achieve your goal through Excelsior. Please be sure to use your best professional writing style when communicating with your legislators. Remember, you are representing Excelsior College and yourself as a healthcare professional. The Senate Higher Education Committee is expected to consider SB 187 this week so please send your email as soon as possible since time is of the essence. As the bill proceeds through the legislative process, we will most likely be asking you to send similar emails to other legislators. Most important right now, however, is an email to the senators listed below asking them to support SB 187. Thank you. Laurie Nagelsmith, PhD, RN Associate Dean School of Nursing [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] [email protected]
  11. I agree, I didn't have any choice but to go with Excelsior. I had applied many nursing school and they all wanted me to start all over again. I am in GA and I will not be able to work in GA, I will have to work outside in another state for one year than I will be able to endorse in GA. So, I also suggest that you finish you program if you are not struggling.
