  1. You may not want to hear this, but I think that PMHNP would be your best bet. You have current psych experience and could work remotely after you graduate. Would it be possible to switch at this point - I think you would have an easier time getting remote work with PMHNP rather than FNP (but perhaps I am wrong).
  2. If anyone has done the WGU Masters in Education or Leadership and gone on to an NP FNP or PMHNP certificate program - please let me know the certificate program that accepted you. Thank you very much.
  3. Time to start your own practice.
  4. Thank you for the information NurseLatteDNP
  5. I am applying for BSWH residency as well but have not been contacted. Can you tell me if it is a Versant residency and if there is a contract that must be signed, ie two years. etc. Thank you.
  6. Hello Dude, RN and PMHNP to be, I have been accepted to MWSU MSN PMHNP program starting Fall 2017. I would appreciate any heads up/advice you could give me on the program - the good and the bad please. Thank you spudbunny
  7. Thank you for the information. How do you like the program so far? What do you think is the most difficult and/or challenging thing about the FNP program at Tyler?
  8. I am planning to go full time. I work full time now but expect to go down to part time during clinicals. According to the Nurse Practitioner Program document, we need a total of 7 preceptors and the campus visits are when we have lab classes and clinicals. Are you deciding between several programs? I only applied to Tyler and Midwestern State University's PMHNP program - their deadline isn't until April 1st though.
  9. Hello, I got the acceptance letter on friday - I wasn't expecting to hear from them until April. I am in Richardson and am wondering about the campus visits as well. I can't see why we would need to go 5 or 6 times the first semester. Does anyone know how many people will be in our program? I look forward to meeting my new classmates! spudbunny
  10. Hello, Could you also send me a PM please, TheOldGuy? Thank you.
  11. Thank you for your quick reply Starkitten29 - do you know if the school will help you find preceptors? My only hesitation in applying to an FNP program is finding the preceptors. I have heard many horror stories about people having to wait months to find them. Are local NPs/clinics/hospitals interested in precepting students? Finally, have you and your classmates found it easy to get a job after graduating? How many people are in the FNP program. Thanks for your patience with all my questions. Spudbunny
  12. Hello, I am also interested in University of Texas at Tyler's FNP program. When you are required to go to Tyler for the 5 - 6 campus visits per semester - are these day-long visits or do they span multiple days, ie 2 to 3 days. Also, does the school provide preceptors if you need them? I would appreciate any help/answers from those who have graduated from or are currently in the program. Spudbunny
  13. Vivalaselvis, I also raised a ruckus the first semester about the same two individuals and the dean. It is by far the worst school and instructors I have ever seen and I have attended several 4 year schools and community colleges. The only reason that program exists is to provide employment for old nurses that no one else would hire - since they are state employees it is very difficult to fire them no matter how incompetent and lazy they are. Even the other nursing instructors complain about the individuals you have mentioned. After graduation, people from my program wrote to their representatives and governor telling them how nasty the weekend nursing instructors were. If you want to make a stink, you must write Mass governor and the state reps - if you try to bring up issues within the school, they will just cover it up. I wish you the best of luck. Spudbunny
  14. thank you for taking the time to reply rajan2. I would like to take advanced path and pharm before the program starts. I was considering U Mass Boston for these classes but they are $1600 each. I will look into CSUDH. Please let us know if they accept those classes. I wish you the best of luck with your studies.
  15. Hello, I am also applying for Fall 2014 admission to University of Southern Indiana's PMHNP program. I am wondering how many people are accepted into the program and how competitive it is. I would also appreciate any information on clinicals from those who have gone through them. Spudbunny
