Grand Canyon University RN to BSN Reviews

Nursing Students School Programs Nursing Q/A

Howdy all, I bit the bullet and after much research, I decided on Grand Canyon! Wow, I did not expect BSN schools to be like used car salesmen--hounding me by emails and phone calls. Rather impressed on how Grand Canyon sort of left me alone, but at the same time kept in touch.

Commence my first class Sept 30th, excited, yet very nervous, as I'm not a big fan of school, LOL! I did extremely well on my Associate degree, graduated back in 2009 from Northern Virginia Community College. We shall see.

Would love to hear from past and present Grand Canyon RN to BSN students.

Both are paper heavy with no CLC in either one, but spirituality does have some double weeks. How much time you have to do two classes is up to you of course. There is no way I could do take two classes, but I work FT, have family and some other obligations. I cannot write quickly, so I need time to edit etc..

I hated spirituality. For me it wasn't an easy class, but that is because I don't have the same beliefs as the school. I did leadership and Trends together. Taking 2 classes at once is a lot of work. Like tokmom said. They are paper heavy classes.

Thanks for the help. My next class starts on April 21 and I am really trying to crush these classes in the next three semesters. I have been able to write A+ papers in 3-5 hours

I think I am going to take Spiruality and Leadership together. I heard that means three papers a week... pretty tough but I think I can handle that, especially if there is no CLC. The next big issue is whether I can take Patho and Trends together, or Trends and the Capstone?

I work full time, but have no other needs and I my unit gets REALLY slow and I can do school work during my night shifts to increase my productivity. Thinking I can do the DQ's and Forum posts at work and bust out the papers at home.

Thanks for the help, do you guys remember exactly how many papers there are? I am in ethics now and can say that the papers are bi-weekly with 2 CLCs during the last weeks. Can you tell me what the layout is of the upcoming classes? This would be very helpful in helping me make my final decisions.

What I am thinking is take two weeks off... do Spirit and leadership... take two weeks... do path and trends... then the capstone.

Again, if someone could tell me how many papers are in each class, this would be so helpful. I think I may bite the bullet and do it.

Capstone has to be done alone and last. I am in patho now (my last class before the capstone) In patho we have A Quiz for week 1, a paper week 2, 2 case studies week 3, a CLC project due the 4th week, and week 5 is a powerpoint presentation and a paper.

Thanks so much Jrich, that is incredibly helpful.

Can you break down Trends for me?

Trends has a paper due every week, and then a CLC in week 4 in addition to the weekly paper

You mean some classes have two papers due in one week?

Yeah, which class has two papers a week; that is the one I will take on my own.

I talked to my counsler today and we decided I should take: patho alone, one class, two classes at a time

So, it would help to know which class has two papers at a time, I will take that one alone.

Spirituality has two due papers dues a couple of the weeks, but who knows, that might change. They seem to be revamping some of the classes.

Yes, some do. The trick is to get ahead if you are a slow writer. It is doable, trust me, lol.

I think I will be able to pull it off... I don't mean to brag (because I barely passed nursing school, lol) but my world record is writting a paper, from first looking at the signment to turned in in just 90 mins... and I got an A! lol. sorry,

I was honestly wondering if this school is just too easy because I hardly have trouble pulling in A's... except in statistics. How has everyone else's experience? Getting good grades is hard work, but do you think the school is a little easy sometimes?
