Excelsior Tutors?

Nursing Students Online Learning

Ok, people, I think I made a HUGE mistake. I plan on earning my LPN-RN through Exclesior. I KNOW we don't need College Network, Rue, etc. However, a man from a local company that "tutors" us, one day a week until we finish c Excelsior came, and I fell for it. BTW, I just graduated LPN school.

Here's my problem. I don't think I can get through Excelsior s someone holding my hand and guiding me all the way. I mean honestly, I don't know how to do a TON of stuff RN's do. I haven't had any work experience yet (waiting to take PN boards). Basically, I am just afraid to get my RN online s some professional help. Which is where these "tutors" come in. They are approved by Excelesior and Excelsior is even coming to speak to their students soon. Problem is they cost a fortune. Basically, they double the Excel cost. The tutoring is once per week, for 4 hours. They gurantee passing all the Excel exams or you get your money back.

Any input?

They are approved by EC? Who is this company? Because usually, EC doesn't endorse anyone ...

The company is a tutoring service. I have heard of one here in NYC and in Fl. OP, if you feel this is how you will pass EC, then you have to do it. Personally, I strongly believe if I can't depend on myself, then I can't depend on someone else but everyone learns differently. GOOD LUCK!

i'd like to learn more about the tutors as well. i've never heard of them before either. what company is it with? i kinda with i could find some sort of DVD lectures, i like to listen as well as read to learn things, but sometimes just hearing and reading it from differnt places helps me to learn. do what fits you best. if this is how you have to do it to get through EC then go for it. i personally fell into the college network trap myself, but i just chaulk it up to a learning experiance that was a bit costy! lol...oh well. i kinda like the EC modules to study from too.

are there any traditional transition schools you can go through? good luck on what you decide. i signed up with EC a year ago and i'm just now actually buckled down to do it. i think it's just mind over matter. now that i'm in the right mind set, and i've lurked on the boards and seen so many people get through this, i feel i can get through it now too!

best of luck to you!

I want to know who are these EC tutors who are coming to "talk" to you...I've never heard of that.

In NY an MD offers "tutoring" for EC students for all the exams. The cost is $500 per exam, doesn't sound right to me...he told me that's been his price for years. Some people need someone to hold their hands, I understand the issue of not knowing a lot of the theory as RN's do but.... most of what you do while working is hands on. I carry a Med/Surg handbook with me while working read up on anything I'm not too familiar with.

My Chancellors guide cost me an average $50 off Ebay, I've been doing just fine passing my exams on my own. I'd try the first exam on my own before signing with a tutor.

I've never heard of tutors associated with EC? Will you be working as an LPN in a hospital or LTC facility? If you work both you can get lots of experiences there.:D If you feel this is the way to go and have a written statement for money back if you fail, then go for it and good luck. Double check with EC to see if they are what they claim.:twocents: Also, there are lots of videos online through YouTube that demonstrate and teach nursing skills.

IDK but I was thinking the same thing because I have to take 3 EC test for my RN-BSN program-- so I am thinking that I will do the program with friends or perhaps post something here for those of us going thru the program so we can work together for this journey--- it's hard picking someone just at random for big tests like that.

why don't you go to a community college instead now that you have your LPN license under your belt?
