I completely forgot about them and I went there, fer cryin' out loud!

They've started an on-line RN-BSN program, $181 a credit, preference given to NYS nurses.

I've already written to my ex-advisor for a letter of reference. And although one needs to complete 60 credits within the program, I've already done quite a few with them!

Yee-haw!

Specializes in Med/Surg Nurse, Homecare, Visiting Nurse.

Yes, Sue, I was reading the nursing spectrum and saw their ad....I forgot about them too for RN-BSN. I'm not there yet, but to tell you guys (you and Lunah).....and yeah, for me too. :D

Wow Sue- that's cheap! Go for it, girl!

It's the same as ALL of the on-line SUNY nursing programs, but I won't have to jump through nearly as many hoops. I've given up on Excelsior - they were going to require me to take frackin' 200 level English comp. Bite me. And at $300 a credit plus annual fees, etc. - nah. Plus, Empire has a precepted clinical term at the end. I would like more clinical. And they offer more pharm and patho, PLUS they require an informatics course.

]Awesome, I am so glad things are going well for you. Do you have a date for NCLEX yet?:D I can't wait to congradulate you. :nurse:

No date yet. I'm sending in my application tomorrow, and the school won't send in my credentials until the end of September. I'm hoping to test in early November, but work is going to be insane through mid-September- mid-November, so I don't know.

I am sure you will do fine. happy0034.gif The thing that helped me the most was saying outloud to myself as I drove to the Pearson Vue Center, " This is only a test ". I must have looked like a crazy woman as I drove, but I passed. Somehow, it really calmed my nerves. ( that's not entirely true ) But I was not as nervous as I was for the CPNE.

sign0020.gif I know you'll be a rockin RN soon. What are you going to do with your BSN? Teach? Management? sign0111.gif

I'm not worried about NCLEX. Multiple choice, I can do. Being watched - ARRRGRHHH!

I'm going to keep doing what I've been doing, but with more options. I can get cert in informatics, become and NP, become a manager or a teacher - it gives me more options. And options are good.

That was the same thing with EC for me -- they wanted me to take an additional 10 credits of gen. ed., which I thought was ridiculous -- you would think so, too, if you saw all my transcripts! I mean, seriously.

I checked out Empire State -- it looks like a great fit for you! Out of state tuition is a bit pricey, but if I lived in NYS I'd be all over it. :)

Sounds like a really great opportunity for you. I start for my BSN this upcoming Spring. I got a " traditional " private college to accept all my EC credits.:smokin: They also qualified me for an awesome scholarship that means I can actually afford to continue my education.:yeah:

Sounds like something I'd take advantage of if I were in NY.:heartbeat

Specializes in Geriatrics, Home Health.

I live in Vermont, but I'm considering SUNY Plattsburgh or Empire State (which has a Plattsburgh branch) for my BSN. Even with out-of-state tuition, it will be cheaper than UVM.
